Taking Your Kids On A Skiing Vacation For The First Time: 3 Pieces Of Advice You Need

December 21, 2016 Rachel Ferrucci Leave a Comment

When considering what to do for your next break, it’s not uncommon for skiing to cross your mind. After all, it can be a fantastic experience that the whole family will enjoy. And it’s perfect to do during the current season. However, it’s not the easiest thing in the world with kids. Therefore, here are three pieces of advice you need when taking your children on a skiing vacation for the first time.

Hunt down a good ski instructor at your resort

Even if you are good at skiing, it’s wise to get some extra help when it comes to the kids. After all, you might struggle to teach them the ropes when you do hit the slopes. Therefore, you should get in touch with a ski instructor who can ensure your kids learn how to ski. They will be trained in teaching little ones so will know how to get the best out of them. A lot of ski resorts also have a special children’s program so that your little ones can learn with other kids. And you might want to get a ski instructor to help you out as well if you are a beginner. As we said before, it can make you a whiz on the slopes before the vacation is over.

Find a self-catering accommodation close-by the slopes

It can sometimes be too expensive for families to actually stay at the ski resort. After all, they often charge a fortune if you require food and ski lessons too. And it can mean your family will be broke for the rest of the trip. Therefore, when you take your kids on a skiing vacation, you should consider going for self-catering accommodation. Of course, it still needs to be close to the slopes. But it will be a lot cheaper than staying at a hotel. And it means you will have all the facilities you need to look after your little ones. If you look online, you can find amazing lodging options next to the best slopes for skiing.

Rent ski equipment

When it comes to equipment, it’s easy to head out to buy everything you need for your trip. But your skiing holiday might be just a one-time thing, so it’s a waste to buy your family all new equipment for the trip. Therefore, it’s worth looking into how much it is to rent the ski equipment. As it says in this article, you can often rent equipment close to the slopes which you can use for the duration of your stay. That way, you will have everything for your family without forking out a fortune. And remember to get clothing so that you are all covered for your trip. You need some snow pants, gloves, a hat, and a warm coat to ensure your family stays warm while on the slopes!

And remember to choose a location which has other things to do. If the kids hate skiing, you don’t want to be stuck in your lodge for the whole time. Therefore, choose a great area with lots of history and shops that you can all go look around.

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
