4 Compelling Reasons Your Son Should Play Guitar

April 12, 2018 Rachel Ferrucci Leave a Comment

As a parent, I’m a firm believer in encouraging your child to do things outside of the school curriculum. I think that learning different skills is the key to their development. Amongst the many things, they can do, playing an instrument ranks very highly. But, not just any instrument, I’m talking about the guitar. Typically speaking, young boys like the guitar because it seems like the coolest instrument on planet earth. So, there may already be an interest there! Obviously, this isn’t the only reason I think playing the guitar is a good idea. No, there are plenty of compelling reasons that this should be their instrument of choice: Credit Improves Their Concentration Skills It’s proven that playing the guitar will help improve a child’s concentration skills. This is because they have a lot to concentrate on while they play. They need to focus on strumming the right strings, while also pressing down the right strings to form chords. The concentration they develop here will translate exceptionally well into other parts of their life - such as their education! Opens The Window For Them To Learn Similar Instruments One of the main reasons I like the guitar is that it can help your child learn more instruments in the future. There are loads of other instruments that are very similar to the guitar, like the ukulele. What’s more, as it shows on easyukulelesongs.com, there are plenty of different songs you can play on a ukulele, and it’s a generally fun instrument. Then, you have things like the banjo and many other similar instruments. By starting your child on the guitar now, you can help them learn basic skills to move into more niche instruments in the future. Helps Them Socialize More Learning the guitar is a great way for your son to socialize and broaden their friendship group. Some schools offer music lessons where kids are taught instruments in groups so this can help your son find new friends. But, even if they’re taught alone, they could still join an orchestra in or out of school, which again increases their social activity. Develops Hand-Eye Coordination Anyone that’s played the guitar will tell you it takes a lot of hand-eye coordination. For a young boy, this is an essential skill to develop. It will help them in so many different areas of life, both right now and in the future. Having good hand-eye skills will enable them to write better in school, and also avoid dropping things at home! Not only that, but this can help them with any sports they might play as well. Furthermore, when they get a lot older, this skill helps them learn how to drive too. As you can see, the guitar is more than just a cool instrument. Aside from your child feeling cool for playing it, they also see loads of benefits beneath the surface. For me, it’s the best instrument to get your son to learn. If anyone reading this has a son that’s started playing the guitar, then I’d be very interested to know how they’re getting on and if you’ve noticed any changes!

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
