Similac StrongMoms Baby Journal App Review #babyjournal

 

I was asked to review the Similac Baby Journal App from the Apple iTunes store. It helps moms keep track of baby’s feeding, sleeping, diaper changes and growth. As you know, I am not a mom, but I am a grandma. I watch my prince during the day and I thought this app may help me keep track of everything I tell my daughter when she gets home

 

I love many things about this app:

• Super convenient to have this on my iphone (I keep that with me at all times)
• I don’t need to write it all down on a piece of paper or try to remember
• I can email my daughter the info quickly vs calling her (she tries to pump when I feed him)
• helps me to stay on a schedule
• Gives detailed info of what kind of diaper you changed
• Lets you track trends
• You track how long each nap was
• Tips/Advice given by “real” moms and dads

Why is this important to a grandma or childcare provider? Moms worry- I know! been there done that! You would think being a grandma, I wouldn’t need to give so much detail to my daughter. Well why wouldn’t I? She’s the mom and she needs to know what’s going on at all times with her baby. This may help her with his sleep patterns at night or decide to up his food.

 

I wish this app did more:

• If the app could sync with multiple phones, it would be perfect!
• A place to add when medicine was taken
• A place to add notes- if the baby has a fever, I want to be able to record it and at what time
• A website or somewhere on the app for information about the app
• Allow the app to grow with the child- allow add-ins : snacks, potty, etc

 

Bottom line-

I think this app would be great for new moms and dads, but I also think this would be great for care givers. I would have loved to receive an email during the day to know that my baby just finished eating and is now napping. Moms are stressed enough when they work outside the home, it would give them some comfort to get updates via email (this is my favorite part). I’m not sure how long you would use it, once the baby gets his routine down, I imagine you wouldn’t need it.
