National Toy Hall of Fame nominations are just the first phase of our 50th Anniversary campaign and I’m hoping you and your readers will help us get the Hess Toy Truck nominated for selection and induction into the National Toy Hall of Fame. As I mentioned below, fans can write letters and petitions to the Strong Museum of Play, but nomination is as easy as filling out this online nomination form: http://www.toyhalloffame.org/nominate  The more nominations we get, the more likely the truck could be selected on this milestone year!

Is your favorite toy or game missing from the National Toy Hall of Fame? Nominate it now! Nominations will be considered for the November 2014 induction.

Selection Criteria

Inducted toys are selected on the basis of the following criteria:

• Icon-status: The toy is widely recognized, respected, and remembered
• Longevity: The toy is more than a passing fad and has enjoyed popularity over multiple generations
• Discovery: The toy fosters learning, creativity, or discovery through play
• Innovation: The toy profoundly changed play or toy design. A toy may be inducted on the basis of this criterion without necessarily having met all of the first three.

When you read the criteria you know Hess trucks not only fit each category but it also has another category such as: Tradition

When a boy is born is our family, someone always calls dibs on the Hess trucks. That boy will receive a truck each year and will be able to pass down the trucks to his children. This year we have to give back to Hess and nominate the toy truck for the National Toy Hall of Fame
