The Journal News posted the names and addresses of all legal gun permit holders in two New York counties on December 22, 2012. Merry Christmas people. Having a permit does not mean that you own a gun but by @Lohud posting this article it insinuates that you have a gun by showing a dot on their map.
Everyone has something to say on this matter!
It is true that this is public record, however, it’s in poor taste for someone to post names and addresses of people. Criminals can watch the houses and break in. Don’t think it can happen? Well, let me give you a piece of history- A FACT- I grew up in New Haven, CT – I saw lots of illegal guns and where do you think those guns came from? Not from the corner grocery store.. that’s for sure. Is this world that naive to think that if we got rid of guns, the criminals are just going to say, “Oh Wait, Please, Don’t forget to take our guns!”
When this information was posted AMI Global Security responded with an article saying;

Reactions to this invasion of privacy:

“It is as if they put out an ad to jewel thieves listing the names and addresses of where to find diamonds and cash.”
“This is CRAZY!! why in the world would you post every licensed gun owner information?? What do you hope to accomplish by doing this? This is the type of thing you do for sex offenders not law abiding gun owners. What next? should I hang a flag outside my house that says I own a gun?”
“Now everyone knows where the LEGAL GUNS are kept, a valuable piece of information for criminals. Why don’t you do something helpful, like trying to find out where the ILLEGAL GUNS are kept? That would be helpful to the non-criminal population”
People who are against the unethical release of this information, retaliated with a post releasing the editors and journalists name and addresses. A couple of the names also have phone numbers and I’m sure their number has been changed by now.
Again, Why would you post someone’s information online. I get the argument that everyone is saying, they put it out there first, but this is a great case of Two wrongs don’t make a right.
I will not link to either site because I think all involved in this are disgusting people and to promote this kind of action in adults is appalling.
I wonder why this country was able to bear arms with no problems all these years and now that the world has gone crazy everyone forgets how to act civil. The theme is to point fingers.

Maybe everyone should just chill out, get values back in their life, and think about how their actions affect others. ….. and maybe pigs will fly.
