Granite Rocx The Tahoe backpack and cooler system

Every time I go fishing or to the beach with my family it seems that I need at least 2 more arms to carry all of our things. Between the chairs, towels, toys, cooler, fishing poles, sunscreens, & umbrella I just can’t seem to make it in one trip! Recently I was given the opportunity to review “The Tahoe” from Granite Rocx & I couldn’t wait to try it out! Could this be the solution to my semingly everlasting conundrum?

When I received the package I tore into it like a 3 yr old at Christmas! At first glance The Tahoe looks like a normal book bag with a cooler attached to the front, but with a closer inspection you see how extraordinary it really is. Before we get started here you should know, I do not take it easy on anything. I am the guy that will break both arms before making two trips into the house with groceries! That being said here is the opinion of your everyday modern dad/mule:

  • The material has a rugged yet plush feel that makes wearing it a real pleasure.
  • The padded area that rests against your back makes it extremely comfortable to carry, even if you have over loaded the pack. (This is especially important if you have a family that wants to take the entire house with you on every outing!)
  • The front of the pack provides a bungee area that is great for towels, beach blankets or restraining fishing poles as you can see from my pics.
  • The interior of the outward compartment provides plenty of space & organizing pockets to cover any of your smaller items.
  • The inner pocket is large, providing plenty of area to pack the kids toys or changes of clothes etc..
  • The separating area for packing your beach chair is pure genius! It provides straps to accommodate a flat folding chair of any size or in my case 3 chairs!
  • The bottom of the pack provides 2 straps that can be used for a cylindrical folding chair or 1 chair & 1 umbrella as I configured mine!
  • Two mesh pockets on each side for quick access to smaller items.
  • The cooler is large enough to accommodate 12 cans or a few bottles. It works well but does sweat heavily so be prepared.

You can see from the pictures this is one tough backpack and there is almost no limit to the amount of gear you can carry if you get a little creative. The Tahoe is extremely well made, it passed all of my tests with flying colors & I’m sure it will pass yours as well. In my opinion this pack & cooler is an 8 out of 10 for style, comfort, strength & usability. In my opinion the only things I would have liked to see is a couple of small straps with clips on each side above the mesh pockets to secure my fishing poles. Also a little extra insulation in the cooler, however the bottom line is that it’s a great pack & for $65 I don’t think you can find a better value. I definitely recommend this pack & I know you will enjoy it as much as I am! Good hiking & go get some fresh air with The Tahoe from Granite Rocx!

Where would you like to take “The Tahoe”?

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received The Tahoe for free from Granite Rocx as coordinated by Deep Creek PR an Outdoor Industry Public Relations Company in consideration for review publication.

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
