Are carpets coming back into style in 2015?

January 16, 2015 Rachel Ferrucci 1 Comment

There was a time when carpeting was looked at more for its usefulness and comfort than its beauty and design. As a result of the recession and the slump in the housing market, many homeowners were choosing flooring that they felt would offer them the best return on their initial investment.

Today’s homeowners are beginning to look at their home décor with a more long-term mindset. While you may still decide to choose hardwood flooring for your home decorating scheme, carpeting and rug options are enjoying a return in popularity, with more adventurous color schemes, patterns and textures among the choices.

Carpeting and luxurious interior design

A well-chosen, luxurious carpet or rug can become the focal point of a deluxe interior, creating a starting point for the entire room’s design and bringing together the various elements into a cohesive whole.

If the room that you are redecorating is a high-traffic room, such as a living room, you will want to look for carpets and rugs that feature layered color and soft textures. The combination of patterns and texture helps to minimize the look of any dirt and dust, as well as holding up well to vacuuming. Organic designs, such as leaves and flowers, and garden elements, such as trellises, are currently popular as they blend well with almost any design or color palette you are working with. Bold colors are also a popular choice; a deep plum rug in a dining room or a wine shade of wall-to-wall carpeting are examples of how this sort of carpeting choice may be worked into a room.

The bedroom is one of the best areas to experiment with color since this is a relatively low-traffic area. This is a great place to indulge in luxury carpeting and rug styles such as plush velvets, shags and felts.

Carpeting trends for 2015

Neutral tones will still be popular in 2015, so if you want a neutral carpet or rug for your home, look for shades of gray or taupe. Shades of blue and teal work well if you want to add a feeling of tranquil energy to a room. Tropical tones, from coral and orange to pink and plum, are drawn from the vintage floral designs that will be trending this year. Finally, greens are always excellent color choices for your carpet or rug needs, and this year’s trend is towards fresh shades of emerald green, lime and even moss.

Carpet maintenance tips

If you are choosing carpeting or rugs for your home, then the importance of keeping these investments clean and in good shape should also be on your mind. Basic cleaning and vacuuming are easily done, but for more serious stains, or simply to properly maintain the carpeting or rug and keep it in the best of shape, it is advisable to look into a good carpet cleaning Ottawa company that can care for and clean it regularly.

Creating a luxury interior design in your home should begin with the flooring choice. Carpeting, available in a wide variety of delicious colors, textures and beautiful designs, can not only add a touch of luxury to your rooms, but also adds comfort, style and value to your entire home.

If you’re looking for a way to get rid of stains that pop up on your carpet, you should check out Rockin’ Green Soap! It is seriously the best. I love the smell and how easily it rinses clean! You can make a little paste and rub on stains and it knocks them right out!

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
