June 22, 2020 Rachel Ferrucci

Looking after your teeth means a lifetime of care. Even if you have been told you have nice teeth, it’s critical that you take care of the, using the right steps. This will help to prevent problems. It involves using the right oral care products, as well as being mindful with your daily care habits.

Brush Your Teeth Before Bed

It’s not a secret that you should be brushing your teeth at least twice a day. However, there are still many people who neglect to brush their teeth before going to bed. Brushing your teeth before bed helps to get rid of the plaque and germs that have built up during the day.

Brush Correctly

The way you brush is just as important, in fact, doing a poor job is just as bad as brushing not at all. Take your time, and move the toothbrush in a gentle, circular motion to remove plaque. Un-removed plaque can easily harden, leading to gingivitis and calculus build up.

Don’t Forget About Your Tongue

It is possible for plaque to build upon your tongue, so don’t forget to brush your tongue too. Neglecting it can lead to other oral health problems and bad breath. You should brush your tongue every time you brush your teeth.

Use A Fluoride Toothpaste

When it comes to choosing a toothpaste, there are certainly more important elements to look for than things like whitening, power, and flavors. No matter which toothpaste you choose, you need to ensure it contains fluoride. Fluoride is one of the leading defences against tooth decay.

Floss When You Can

Not many people actually take the time to floss. Either because they feel as though it takes too much time or because they’re unsure of how to do it. However, flossing should be thought of as important as brushing.

Use A Mouthwash

Many people skip using a mouth wash for their oral hygiene because they get lost in the confusion of all the adverts. Mouthwash can help to reduce the amount of acid in the mouth, cleans hard-to-reach areas in and around the gums, and it re-mineralizes the teeth.

Seek Dental Care Regularly

Your everyday habits are important to ensure the health of your teeth. Still even the most frequent brusher need to see their dentist or receive treatment at home regularly whether it’s for invisible braces at home, your regular check-up or routine cleaning, seeking regular dental care can help you maintain optimal oral health.

Drink More Water

Water is and probably always will be the best beverage to consume for your overall health, including your oral health. As a rule of thumb, you should drink water after every meal, to help look after your teeth. It can help to wash away some of the negative effects that acidic or sticky food and beverages can have in between brushes.

These 8 tips should help you to minimize the damage that can occur to your teeth. Keeping on top of your oral hygiene is really important and contributes to your overall health. Is there anything that you do to make sure you keep on top of your oral health? Please share them in the comments below.

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
