When I was invited to the red carpet premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales in Hollywood taking place on May 18, I was beyond excited. I’m a huge fan of all the movies and I have loved Johnny Depp since 21 Jump Street. We arrived at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood and made our way down the red carpet (actually it was teal),
we were met by many pirates along our journey and you can feel the excitement and energy with every step.
As I walked snapping pictures, it was mind blowing to think the amazing cast would soon be following my footsteps. The star-studded cast who attended were, Johnny Depp
and Orlando Bloom. Directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg and producer Jerry Bruckheimer joined the actors.
Zippy from Champagne Living and I made our way down the carpet and into Dolby Theater.
Each of the four floors had food, drinks, and activities for all to enjoy!
You were able to touch up your makeup with Lorac, take fun pictures in a photo booth, and the best of all… rub elbows with all the stars.
I nearly fell over when I found Jon Voight standing front of me. As I waited patiently for a fan to finish talking to him, he winked at me. Finally, I got to tell him what an honor it was to meet him and he gave me a big squeeze as we posed for our picture. I felt like a star myself. I didn’t wear a Dolce & Gabbana but my cold shoulder black dress from White House Black Market accented with a simple large green stone necklace let me fit it well.
The time went by so fast and before I knew it the lights were blinking to be seated. I grabbed my popcorn and 3-D glasses and headed to my seat in orchestra center third row. When the cast was announced they were a mere 15 feet away. I could have easily jumped Johnny in 2.3 seconds but kept my composure!
The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has been amazing so far and I was hoping they can pull off yet another hit with their fifth installment opening this Friday, May 26th. Within the first 5 minutes I was captivated and excitement went through me as each character from the past films arrived on scene. Captain Jack doesn’t disappoint with his attempt for a heist along with his drunken humor. This film introduces us to a new villain, Captain Armando Salazar, played by Javier Bardem who has a deep hatred for pirates. He escapes the Devil’s Triangle, and the only way to stop him is for Captain Jack to locate the Trident of Poseidon. Will and Elizabeth’s son Henry and astronomer Carina also are on a quest for the Trident for their own reasons. Captain Hector Barbossa is also back in the mix and in this film you may find yourself battling your hatred for him. Sir Paul McCartney makes an appearance as Uncle Jack bringing a bit of rock n roll to the film as Keith Richards did. The story lines all keep within what we love about the movies, curses, love, revenge, and family, and in the end you will have a “OMG” moment. This is a must see and you will want to add this to your Disney video collection so you can watch it over and over.
There is so much to tell you about with this movie. From the background with Walt Disney to the interviews with the cast, I’ll be sharing all of this in the days coming so check back each day! Pirate Of The Caribbean opens this Friday May 26th!
