Ask ten different people this question and you will get ten different answers. Much like the rules governing when you can wear white, there will be purists, there will be modernists, and there will be everyone in-between.
But what all those people think doesn’t matter when it comes to when you should start decorating for spring.
Instead of worrying about which rule is right, pick the one that works best for you. But if you aren’t sure which rule to follow, check out some of the options below.
When You Need a Little Spring
It is still cold outside—there might even be snow on the ground—but all that white and cold has you feeling down. Many people experience seasonal depression, and one way that many choose to fight it is by changing up their décor.
It may be winter outside, but it can still be spring inside. Brighten up your space and bring in some greenery to help change the way you feel. If you need spring, give yourself spring. Grab a bouquet of daffodils or tulips and put them in a vase or canning jar. Flowers with bright colors always brighten up your day.
When it is Officially Spring
Or you could follow the seasons exactly. As we make the change from winter to spring, it is an ideal time to change your décor. This ensures that your various seasonal décor gets equal time on display before being put away and it gives you a certain rhythm to your year.
As the Weather Changes
Then again, the weather doesn’t always follow the seasons. It could still be winter according to the calendar, but spring according to the temperature. So rather than following the dates, you could just wait for the warm breeze and greenery to return.
Around Easter
Finally, for many, spring isn’t about the start date, nor is it about the change in the weather. Instead, it is about the Holiday. Just like we associate fall with Halloween and winter with Christmas, many of us associate spring with Easter. Start decorating about three to four weeks before Easter.
