The world of beauty is exciting and ever changing. There are always new formulas being tested, new kinds of treatments to try and different things you can do to improve your looks and stay looking youthful for longer. However, some of them are a little more strange than others! Here are a few of the weird and wonderful beauty treatments you could try. Would you be brave enough to give them a go?
Vampire Facial
A vampire facial uses something called a platelet-rich plasma therapy. It works by injecting your own blood back into your face, which helps the skin to renew and rejuvenate. It’s a non-surgical alternative to a facelift, and according to sites like James Christian Cosmetics, it lasts for around three months. While it sounds a little creepy, it’s far less invasive than going under the knife. And if you want to make a difference to your skin, it’s one way to go about it! It only takes around thirty minutes, it’s not painful, and there’s very little recovery time needed.
Bee Venom/ Snail Slime Products
Bee venom has been hailed as the natural and organic alternative to botox. The products don’t come cheap, but it’s said to both lift and tighten muscles. Snail secretions are a common ingredient in Asian skincare, which has become more and more popular in the west. It’s said to moisturize, help acne and other skin conditions and improve wrinkles. You don’t need to go to a spa for these, high end and luxury beauty suppliers and department stores will have them on the shelves.
Fish Pedicures
The use of Garra Rufa fish pedicures has gained massive popularity in spas. You put your feet into tanks filled with these toothless fish, who then painlessly nibble away any dead skin. The end result leaves feet feeling soft and refreshed. It’s also suggested that the treatment stimulates blood flow and improve circulation, remove bacteria, reduce foot odor and help with athlete’s foot. Fish pedicures came under scrutiny for risk of infection. However, the Health Protection Agency and other officials have researched them and stated that the risk is very low. Choose a good spa with a high hygiene rating to give you full peace of mind, and read up on the do’s and don’ts beforehand. For example, any cuts you have should be left to heal first.
Gold Facials
There are few things more luxurious than glittering gold- especially when it comes to skincare! These facials apply gold leaf to the skin which is said to stimulate collagen tightens and tone and give you gorgeous luminosity. It also activates the process of cell renewal and rejuvenates your skin, bringing a significant reduction of wrinkles and fine lines. These facials don’t come cheap, but would you expect a treatment using real gold to be? A nice way to pamper your skin if you don’t mind splashing the cash.
What’s the strangest beauty treatment you have tried so far? Which one of these would you be most (or least!) likely to try out?

I think the only one in the list that I would be willing to try would be the fish pedicure. We have a local spa in our area that offers it and I’ve tried it once. It was, as I would say, “a unique beauty treatment.” The fish tiny and very gentle. I would have to go in again sometime to get another fish pedicure.

I don’t think I’d like to try the Vampire Facial although it does sound promising. These are all interesting, it’s fascinating what people in the beauty industry come up with.
