I grew up on rock and roll. Nothing gets me more excited than an insane rock show, and the Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival did not disappoint. I arrived in Tampa and was picked up by non other than the Gin Joint man himself, Ben Sandler. We found some awesome local spots and spent the day by the pool soaking in the sun. I even got a free ice pop from one of the hotel employees. They had a bar by the pool with some great specialty drinks, although I still prefer my Pura Vida. The pool was amazing and Ben and I both decided this is the kind of work we want every day. Sunbathing, pools, booze and rock concerts… what more could you want?
The next day we headed to the UpRoar Concert. The venue had a few technical difficulties when we were trying to get in, but thanks to the amazing Pura Vida Tequila team we were personally led inside and escorted backstage for the show of a lifetime.
I was invited to a meet and greet with Godsmack on the Pura Vida Tequila tour bus. The bus was huge and fully decked out… I definitely wouldn’t mind touring on something like that. Pura Vida had a professional mixologist on the bus who made some of the most amazing tequila drinks I have ever had. I have always been a huge fan of tequila, but I have never had anything so smooth. Our #815tequilatime shot went down like flavored water. I was introduced to the CEO of Pura Vida Tequila, Stewart, who was one of the nicest people I have ever met and hung out with me the whole night. He made sure I felt like a true VIP.
Unfortunately, meeting Godsmack wasn’t as I envisioned it. Although I think this was particularly on my meet and greet only; most people who have met Sully Erna have had nothing but great things to say. When I met him he seemed very “over it” and was brief and just wanted to leave. It was a little disappointing considering he has been one of my idols since I was about 12 years old. I guess stars never live up to what you expect. The rest of the band was pretty friendly, but they were to themselves as well. Having some amazing Pura Vida Tequila definitely made the situation better.
The show and hospitality of Pura Vida Tequila and Uproar was phenomenal. Backstage of the second stage show I got to meet lead singer Chris of Within Reason who was super friendly and helped the stage crew once it started down pouring. Later on I got to meet and chat with drummer Xavier from Buckcherry who was one of the friendliest people I have met and I even got a selfie with him.
Overall, the show was incredible. They had it all, great music, great effects, and a lot of pyrotechnics. I definitely will be checking out Uproar Festival next time it comes around and I will DEFINITELY be drinking a lot more Pura Vida Tequila.
Remember to always Drink Responsibly!!!
