Turning 50 – The Things Nobody Told You About

September 20, 2021 Rachel Ferrucci

This post is sponsored by Life-flo but all opinions are entirely my own.

As you approach your 50s, the biggest challenge is managing your health and ensuring you age well. You need products to help keep your skin soft, moist, and radiant at all times. Approaching your 50s does not mean that you neglect your skincare needs. Now that I’m an empty nester in my 50s I  attend more events, parties, and get togethers; at this time, the greatest goal is to remain radiant, glowing, and outstanding.

This is one of the best times in your life, and then IT happens…..menopause. You’re not only battling time on your skin, but your body will remind you that it’s 50. Your sleep will be disturbed with hot flashes or will be disturbed for no reason at all. You’ll feel every little ache, and you will have an entire new relationship with food – it won’t like you anymore. It’s time for us to have an open and honest conversation! I’m sharing some of my daily beauty routines that help me conquer menopause and being over 50.

Our skin is our best selling point for us; radiant skin makes us appear younger despite our age. We need various products to manage our skin care needs. Recently I learned about sustainable products manufactured from elements derived in nature, such as magnesium. I was amazed at all the benefits and then I was very excited to start using five magnesium products from Life-flo.

Each product has special benefits that will fit your various needs and even better, they will make you feel pampered. There is nothing better than when self-care gives you joy and it’s a great way to show menopause who’s really in-charge.

The need for self-care

Life is extremely busy and we need to find the balance of taking care of everyone around us and making sure to find time for our own care. The best way to give love is to begin by loving yourself. I concentrate on my mind, body, and soul whether I have five minutes or five hours. Menopause can make us feel like our body has been invaded by an alien so there are times it needs extra care.

My Daily Routine

One beneficial product I use to boost my skincare is magnesium lotion. The lotion is enriched with magnesium oil and moisturizers. I apply magnesium lotion daily, it soothes and refreshes my overused muscles and joints, calms dry, stressed skin so I can unwind. This is an easy 5-minute routine that can be done any time of day or night.

I also use Life-flo Magnesium Gel in place of the magnesium lotion, it’s super concentrated and soothing to the skin.

When I work all day and I’m too tired to take a walk to loosen up my joints, I dedicate at least five minutes after a bath to apply massage gel or lotion, especially to my joints.

I sometimes need to detoxify my mind from the stress of the day. This is when I draw a bath with Life-flo Pure Magnesium Flakes, grab a good book, relax and rejuvenate my mind, body and soul. The quality magnesium flakes are from the ancient Zechstein Seabed, one of the world’s finest sources. Light scented candles at least 5 minutes before the bath to set the ambiance in the bathroom, you’ll feel like you’re at a spa. I sometimes fantasize that I’m on vacation. The most important thing is to leave your phone in the other room so you’re not disturbed!

You can also create a luxury foot soak at home with magnesium flakes. I love to do this when I’m catching up on my TV shows.

Bottom-line

Being in your 50s calls for the highest levels of self-love and care and should be a part of your daily routine, even if you have only five minutes to spare! The biggest focus should be on using quality products to help you on your menopause journey such as gels, lotions, and supplements made from magnesium. You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
