When you think of Summer fun, you often picture LEAVING your house to go to the beach, a water park, or perhaps even a community pool. While going on day trips are fun, sometimes the most fun is playing right in our own backyard.
Our toddler LOVES to play in the sand. While we love visiting the beach, he seems to have the most fun in his Step 2 sandbox right at home. His sandbox is complete with his own shovels and pails. We can take water right from our water hose to build those amazing sandcastles. The best part is all of our sand shapes are there! When traveling to the beach, we only bring a bag full of sand toys. At home, we have tubs and tubs of sand toys and we can pull out EVERY SINGLE ONE!
After we’ve had enough of the sandbox, we usually move to our next favorite backyard toy…. Our Step 2 Tropical Island Resort Water Table! The water table is PERFECT for those really hot days. We have little people and sea creatures that go in our table. Some of them even squirt water, which can be a refreshing surprise and game in itself! The biggest challenge with the water table is making sure our toddler doesn’t climb in it. Once he starts to put one foot up, we know its time to move to our fire hydrant sprinkler or baby pool.
Splashy The Fire Hydrant Sprinkler sprays water every which way and is lots of fun to run though. We make up different games of how we’ll get through. Sometimes we run full speed, other times we skip, and many times we’ll hop straight through the moving stream!
We also have a little baby pool that is perfect to cool off or just splash around. We can bring our bath toys into the pool or use our water toys. Our whole family will have water gun battles and use the baby pool as our refill station too!
For those special days we also purchased a blow up waterslide. This is something we use at every Summer picnic and will occasionally blow it up to use on the weekends. The slide keeps us entertained for hours and is especially great when a few kids are over playing in the backyard.
For our family the Summer fun never ends, even when we’re home!
