Rough days. We’ve all had them, whether it has been a trying day with the kids, or a busy day at work, they take their toll on your stress levels pretty quickly. The problem with this is, it affects you emotionally and physically, so finding a good way to unwind at the end of the day should be high on your list of priorities. Here are four ways to pamper yourself relaxed.
Paint your nails
Painting your nails is a great way to relax. The action itself is calming as it gives your brain something to focus on rather than reliving the stressful moments of your day. You get the bonus of having nails that are pleasurable to look at afterward too (and a pass not to do the dishes or hang the washing up while they are drying). Pick your favorite color and get stuck in. If you are a bit of a novice, or you find you usually mess your nails up when you try and paint them – here are some handy tips and tricks to help you out.
Moisturize
Moisturizing is one of the best ways to look after your skin. Especially during summer, when skin can suffer that little bit more than usual. It should always be an important part of your skincare routine. Making that extra effort to moisturize your face can shave years off your appearance and make you feel chilled. Even if you are part of the lucky few with youth still on your side, having a healthy skin care regime will help you glow. Using your routine as part of your wind-down can help with your stress levels. Pick a nice scented hand cream to pop on your desk at work. When you get overwhelmed, taking those 2 minutes to apply the cream and gather your thoughts can make all the difference.
Use a Face Mask
There is so much more to a face mask than the opportunity to take a funny selfie with the hashtag #GirlsNightIn. They come in a wide range, all which target a type of skin complaint. It covers suffering from redness on the skin all the way through to reducing blackheads – there is a face mask for everyone. You can pick these up at any drugstore. You can make your own as part of a slumber party, or night in with the kids.
Hot Bath
Quite often after having a bad day, you can feel like you need to lie down. Taking a nice hot bath can rest those weary muscles and give you some alone time to process everything. Bring an interesting book in with you and immerse yourself in it. Lavender in the bath, whether it’s a few drops from a bottle or a scented bubble bath, will add to the ambiance. (Don’t forget the candles!). Just make sure you lock the kids and partners out – unless they are willing to bring in a glass of wine (maybe just the partner for that request!)
One of these (or all of them in one night, depends on how your day has gone) can help you feel chilled. Just make sure, if you make your facemask, remember it’s not for eating!
