I was on a press junket for the new Ghostbusters movie and we were treated to a Sony Pictures Entertainment lot tour of GhostCorp and more. Our tour guide was wonderful and told us many insider tips which were very interesting and fun. There’s so much history on the lot it will have you Oooing and Ahhing the entire time. You most likely will also see some stars along the way as they shoot their scenes. These are my top
GhostCorp
Ghostbuster fans of all ages would love the Ghostbusters Hook & Ladder building. On the Sony lot it serves as offices but you will get to see the fire pole and all the toys that will be on the market to buy for the kids (or yourself). While there we got to meet the amazing Ivan Reitman who also did the original Ghostbusters as well as many classics such as Meatballs, Stripes, Animal House and many more. He gave us some insider tips about the movie (post coming soon) and he was more than gracious showing us around!
Wheel – Of – Fortune
I’m a bit of a geek when it comes to the Wheel Of Fortune. What I wasn’t expecting was to learn a few very cool facts about the show. When you first walk into the studio you will find the walls lined with pictures of Pat and Vanna as the years went by but you will also see winning contestants pictures and their stories of how their winnings have impacted their lives and how some gave it to others. When on location, the Wheel Of Fortune has double of everything (lighting, letter wall, etc) to pack up and bring so the studio stays in tact but The WHEEL goes on the road. It is the only wheel they have and it is treated as such. When not in use it is covered with a sign that says “DO NOT UNCOVER OR TOUCH THE WHEEL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE”. I apologize the pictures aren’t great but it was dark in the studio.
Ray Donovan
This is one of my favorite shows and we got to go into Studio 15 and look around. We weren’t allowed to take any pictures but it was very cool walking through the gym and seeing all the different sets. We were told that this building is haunted and people have seen things (including our tour guide). Although I would love to be a cast member for the show, I guess I’ll have to turn them down because I don’t do haunted!
Barbara Streisand Scoring Stage
When you walk in to the room, you may look around and think it’s old and needs to be updated. Unpainted wood covers the walls, old floors, and chairs set in orchestra style. You will not feel like you’re in Hollywood here but if you have an ear for sound, you’ll be amazed at how any audio sounds in this room. Singers have been coming to this very room for decades. It was one of my favorite places on the lot.
The amazing sound board!
Back in the day when everyone smoked everywhere, the musicians would lay their cigarette down to play their notes leaving many burn marks in the music stands.
My favorite picture here was when I sat where Doris Day sat to sing Never Look Back in Love Me or Leave Me! If only I could have stopped by makeup and hair!
