I struggled with routines my entire life because it seemed every routine took so much time that I would skip it. As a busy mom who worked full time, I wanted my free time to go to the kids. If only I knew then what I know now! Whether you are busy with your career or kids, you can create a customized skin beauty routine to look your best.
Give Yourself 5 Minutes
I often hear women say they can’t use a face system with more than one product because it takes too long. 5 MINUTES! That’s all it takes. Find a product line that is specific for your skin’s needs and once you use it a few times, whether it’s two, three, or five products, you will be able to complete it within five minutes. I keep my five- yes five products in a basket and as soon as I get out of the shower, I use them. I now have it down to two and a half minutes.
Water Bottles Are our Friends
Get in the habit of filling and carrying a water bottle with you and sip your water throughout the day. This doesn’t take any time out of your day because you can drink as you do anything. I’m sipping right now and typing with one hand. It will become a habit before you know it.
Pig Out On Food
I may have went a little over board with that but truthfully there are certain foods that are wonderful for our skin and we can pig out on them. You’ll also be surprised with some of the food that our skin loves. Here’s a few of my favorites:
- Olive Oil – Great for anti-aging, about 75% of the fat in olive oil is monounsaturated fatty acids.
- Dark Chocolate – Yay for chocolate. It’s rich in cocoa flavanols, which have antioxidant properties and helps hydrate skin and improve circulation.
- Green Tea– Researchers say, catechins like EGCG (antioxidants) boost blood flow and oxygen to the skin, which delivers key nutrients to keep your complexion healthy.
- Grass-fed Beef – Contains protein which is the building block of collagen and elastin tissue, which keeps skin taut and less wrinkled. Choose lean cuts.
- Rosemary, Thyme, and other Herbs– Herbs have a ton of antioxidants and they squelch free radicals from the sun before they can damage skin. (~International Journal of Epidemiology)
