Now that summer is in full swing, a lot of us are getting ready to jet off somewhere new and enjoy the sunshine and the sea. In the summer time, most of us want to wear swimsuits and flowing dresses, and of course we also want to feel confident in our own skin.
If you feel as if you want to lose a few pounds after too many beer garden afternoons and barbecues this summer, we have the ideal set of tips for you.
Eat a high-protein breakfast
Before you run straight for liposuction surgery this summer, losing weight can be easier than you think if you have the knowledge. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and you need to make sure that you have enough nutrients to get you through the first few hours. Protein is a macro which helps repair and restore damage done to your muscles and cells, and this is an important thing to have first thing in the morning. So a breakfast containing something such as egg or bacon can be a good start to your day.
Avoid sugary drinks
As tempting as it is on a hot day to crack open a bottle of pop or fruit juice, both of these drinks can be very sugary and they aren’t good for you. Sugary drinks spike your blood sugar levels and this confuses the body. When trying to metabolise a large portion of sugar, the body will often resort instead to storing it as fat. Try to stick to fruit infused water for the summer to lose some weight.
Drink 30 minutes before dinner
Hunger pains are the worst enemy of anyone who is looking to lose weight, and it is often the downfall of our diet. However there is a way to reduce your appetite and ensure you don’t overeat. When we feel hungry, a lot of the time we are actually thirsty, but because the feelings are the same it can be a little confusing. Drinking a glass or two of water before a meal will satisfy your craving for a drink and this will also likely reduce how hungry you think you are.
Use metabolism boosters
When you are trying to lose weight, one of the best tools you can use is your metabolism. Your metabolism is what will digest your food and convert it into energy for the body instead of fat, and there are foods which are able to boost this. Lemon boosts the metabolism and a glass of lemon water every morning can be a great start to the day. Grapefruit is also a metabolism booster so eating one for breakfast is a great idea.
Drink coffee
Coffee contains caffeine which naturally boosts our metabolism and the body as a whole. The beauty about coffee too is that it will suck water out of the cells to make us appear less bloated and swilled in the sun, so if you are planning a photoshoot make sure to drink lots of coffee first!
