Basically, I was unprepared for this whole wedding thing
As I prepare for my wedding, which is officially less than one year away at this point, I realize that it’s probably high time that I start making some decisions on my Save The Dates. I’m a little weird, I suppose, because I wasn’t the kind of girl who dreamt about my wedding since I was 5. In fact, I spent most of my life focused on extracurriculars, community service, studying, dating around, and, if we’re being honest, being the life of the party (and loving it). So that means pretty much that I had no idea where to even start with all of this planning.
One thing my fiance, Greg, and I shared was that neither of us really saw ourselves getting married and settling down. When Greg proposed early last October, I totally wasn’t expecting it. In fact when he got down on one knee and pried open that oyster shell all too easily, I was so fixated on how he managed to open it so fast, that I couldn’t focus on the absolutely gorgeous diamond ring that was inside. For an instant, I truly had no idea what was going on – and then I finally got it. But only after I asked him, “If I say ‘yes’, this means we’re going to get married, right?”. Sad, I know. Any other woman might have broken down into tears, but Greg and I were happy in our own way and we still smile thinking of how silly, yet true to us that the whole scene was.
Greg and I are both quality snobs. With him being a Graphic Designer and me being a marketing professional, aesthetics mean a lot to us… so there are some non-negotiables. One being our wedding photography. We want our pictures to look great, and would prefer to have all of our in-between candid moments captured than to spend all day posing. The next being the look and feel of our wedding invitations.
Let’s get down to the basics…
Now that you have some backstory on who the heck I am and why I am sharing my story, I can begin to talk more about my why you’re really here. During what seemed to be an endless search for the perfect Save The Dates, I came across Basic Invite. The website is very user-friendly and the first thing I noticed were their beautiful save the dates. The best part about them was that they matched everything! On Basic Invite, there are over 200 wedding invitation sets that match. The sets include save the dates, wedding invitations, enclosure cards, response cards, wedding menus, programs and matching thank you cards. I mean, it really includes the whole shebang… even the name cards can match your set! So for anyone out there who is a stickler for their wedding theme, this is an excellent resource for you.
If you are even a little bit art or design savvy, I personally think THE most exciting part about the site is the fact that there are almost unlimited colors (about 180 unique options total) that you can choose from when you’re creating your cards. This gives you the power to alter every last element on your cards to reflect the colors (and fonts) that you want. No more selecting from the same 5 templates that everyone else chooses from! You can even select from gorgeous metallic foil colors.
By the way, if you’re looking to get super creative for your wedding invitations, they just launched a line of clear invitations that are nothing short of stunning. These would make for excellent keepsakes for you and your guests. You have to see them to believe it!
Want to see a physical sample of what your card will look like before you place your order? You can actually do that through Basic Invite! You can order custom samples to evaluate the print and paper quality before you buy, which is a great way to guarantee that you’re getting your money’s worth.
Basic Invite offers peel and seal envelopes in over 40 different colors. Once again, if you want to go bold and stick to your theme, you have the opportunity to truly customize your experience.
If you’re having a hard time collecting addresses, Basic Invite has a free address collection service that you can use to make this process easy as 1-2-3. Simply send your guests a link, collect addresses electronically and get free envelope printing!
All in all, Basic Invite has done an excellent job of setting themselves apart from the competition and catering to women who thrive on their uniqueness (like me!). Check out the links below to learn more about them and to follow them on social media!
