When you think of New York City, you often think of shopping, eating, and broadway. Although there is nothing like the hustle and bustle of the city, taking the time to slow down will be a new adventure. I am often in the city and sailing the NY Harbor isn’t often thought about.
I recently went to NYC for the Spider-Man Homecoming press junket and as guests of Sony we were invited to go on a sail in NY Harbor. Our group headed to Chelsea Pier and boarded the Schooner and set sail.
We couldn’t have picked a more perfect day! All hands were on deck, sails went up and the wind took over. We glided through the Hudson River with NYC skyline as our backdrop. As the wind blew through my hair I took the helm and guided this 80 foot Schooner along. Holding the massive ship’s wheel was so exciting and I was surprised at how easily she sailed.
We were served a delicious lunch along with drinks while we took in the scenery, laughed, and bonded.
After passing our beautiful lady “The Statue of Liberty” we headed back. At one point we were heeling at what felt like 90 degrees. We sliced through the waves at about 10 knots and I didn’t want our 2-hour tour to end.
Sailing on the Schooner is a must do in NYC!

I’ve done a few harbor cruises in NYC and it’s amazing isn’t it? The last one I did was actually the ferry to see the big lady herself 🙂

I would love to take this tour. I’ve been to NYC several times, but I’ve never had the opportunity to see it from the river. It looks like a lot of fun.

That’s so awesome! River tours are always a good time, but when you get to take them on a big sailboat, they’re even better. I’d love to do that.

It goes to show you and everyone that NYC has everything if you look for it. Who would have thought of a sailboat trip to see all those great sights in our city.

That is so cool! I will have to remember to ride the Schooner if we get to visit NYC. I hope we get to do so soon before the weather gets chilly. You sure were right when you wrote “delicious lunch.” 🙂

You are one pretty ship captain, that’s for sure! It must have been an awesome experience to maneuver the 80 ft sail boat. I should do this next time we fly to NY.

I have only been able to wet my feet in New York a few times. I totally need to spend time and visit the Hudson with my family.
