The royal couple Prince William and Kate Middleton had planned on sharing their first family portraits with the world at 12 a.m. GMT. Select members of the press were sent the official portraits of the royal family and were asked that they weren’t released until midnight in the U.K., around 7pm EST.
With the excitement of having these pictures in hand and the “tweet” button at a fingertip, the pictures hit the social waves early and made their way everywhere! Gawker posted two pictures of the royal family found on Twitter at about 4am ET on Monday August 19th.
Kate and William broke tradition by not having the royal pictures taken in a royal setting or by a professional photographer. The photos were taken by Kate’s dad, Michael Middleton in the garden of their family home in Bucklebury, Berkshire.. A true family portrait includes everyone right? In one photo is Prince William, Kate, Prince George, their black Cocker Spaniel Lupo, and another dog sleeps at Kate’s side. The smile on Kate’s face is an expression any new mom can relate too. having your husband at your side, new baby in your arms, and hoping the dog sits still so the picture can be snapped.
The Stylelist reports Kate’s wearing the fuschia Knot Front Short Sleeve Dress from Seraphine while William looks comfortable and casual in a gingham button down.
The other photo is Kate and William with their little Prince. A beautiful family photo to treasure forever.
