When I was asked by One to One Network to review Rod Stewart’s new album “Time”, I jumped all over that!
Those of us who grew up in the 80’s fell in love with Rod Stewart and belted out Do You Think I’m Sexy among all his other hits…. and YES we thought he was sexy, especially in those red leather pants! Is it getting hot in here?? Oh wait…. this is a PG post.
We’ve waited nearly two decades to have Rod back rockin out with his raspy, seducing voice. This album will have you singing, swaying, rocking out, and dancing. It’s one of those albums you pop in the CD player and play loud, melt into the music while you’re cooking, cleaning, or working. (I have it on right now, keying away to the tempo). Sick of commercials listening to the car radio? Having this CD with you will make your drive go by quickly.
Obviously I love Rod Stewart but truthfully I’m very skeptical when an artist releases their “comeback” album for fear that you’re so used to their old music that I’m afraid I’ll be disappointed.
I can tell you I was not disappointed, I really liked it when I first heard it and I’m loving it now that I know the songs and most of the words. Songs are always better when you can sing along. The label is promoting “She Makes Me Happy” and “Finest Woman”. My two favorites are “Finest Woman” and “Make Love To Me Tonight”!
Time Info
Stewart rediscovered the spark for songwriting while reviewing his life for his recent memoir.
“Suddenly ideas for lyrics were piling up in my head,” he says. “Next thing I knew, I had a song called ‘It’s Over’ about divorce and separation. And now I was getting up in the middle of the night and scrambling for a pen to write things down, which has never happened to me. I finished seven or eight songs very quickly and I still wasn’t done, and it became apparent that I would eventually have a whole album of material to record.”
Along with the release of Time, Stewart is set to embark on the European leg of his Live the Life tour on June 1st, while American dates with Steve Winwood will kick off October 17th.
