Looking to make this February 14th special? Take some time to plan a Valentine’s weekend getaway. With the 14th falling on a Sunday this year, it is the perfect opportunity for a special trip. But if you aren’t sure where to start, you aren’t alone. To help, keep in mind the tips below.
Keep it Local
This is a weekend getaway, so you do not want to go jetting off to the Caribbean. Instead, research spots that are within an hour or two of your home; you want to enjoy the weekend, not have travel eat up precious time. If you are in New England, one of my favorite spots is the Saybrook Inn, they will provide you with a perfect romantic weekend!
Don’t think there is anything around? You might be surprised. Search for local bed and breakfasts, get on Air BnB, or seek out nearby cabins. Even those of us who think we leave near nothing usually have something interesting left to discover.
Make a Plan
Don’t leave things up to chance. Part of what makes these getaways so romantic is that your partner took the time to plan something for you. Plan the place, plan the activities, plan the dinner, and even plan the playlist for the car. Just making the plan shows that you care, and that is what the entire holiday is about.
Most cars give yo the option to stream music right from your phone. One of the best music apps is Mix Radio, downlaod the app and get your weekend music ready.
But Keep it Simple
Romantic doesn’t mean fussy. You can keep it simple and beautiful. Activities, such as taking a nature walk, just need to be focused on being together. So think less about showiness and more about quality time. When packing, think less is more too. This is the perfect time to pack lingerie, jewelry, and don’t forget your heels!
Unplug
And about that togetherness: Unplug. No texting, no surfing the web, no games with friends. Make the entire weekend just about being with the one you love.
And just like that, you have the perfect Valentine’s weekend getaway!
