When we throw a party the theme is brought throughout the entire planning, from food to decorations to favors. This was for my daughter who was having her third baby so we kept it very small. Our normal parties can reach 100 people consisting of family and friends. We wanted it to be a princess theme because this was our first girl! We also brought a little ballerina into it since my girls danced when they were younger. So we decided we would plan the perfect pink and gold princess party.
We picked pink and gold because it went with everything and you can also add luxury, after all it is for a Princess!
The Grand Entrance
We don’t wear shoes in our house and I just put in a new carpet so I couldn’t make an exception. To conquer the problem, I bought white craft flip flops and glued pink bows on them. I asked everyone beforehand of their sizes. I placed them in a basket in the foyer with a note:
Decorations
We started by making vases and holders out of canning jars, candle holders out of toilet paper rolls, painted dishes, dried flowers, tulle drapery, pink gumballs, ribbons, bows and more bows
Plates and napkins
We wanted an easy clean-up so we opted for plastic but we made sure it was a better quality. Napkins were placed on each dish. The main table had limited amount of space so we dressed up a snack table and used it for our plates and napkins.
Food
When thinking about our menu we wanted to keep things as simple as possible so we could enjoy our time with guests. We created dishes that were individual and most were able to be prepared before the guests arrived.
- Individual shrimp cocktails- served in plastic cups
- Olive and cheese board garnished with grapes
- Antipasto skewers
- Watermelon and feta hor d’oeuvres
- Feta and strawberry salad
- Grilled chicken caprese
- Raspberry and cheese hor d’oeuvres
- Fig, pear, nut and brie hor d’oeuvres
- Cucumber and radish hor d’oeuvres
- Parfait
- Carrots and hummus
- Deviled Eggs
- Grapes with white chocolate
- Cookie (Anginettes and sugar crown)
- Princess Cake
I used my buffet for the cake and favor table and also to display the Barbie Ballerina diaper cake which served as decor and a gift.
Drinks
We had a signature drink, The Spring Spritzer. We learned this one from Matt Dyer at Earth At Hidden Pond. We also had wine, pink lemonade, ice tea, water, tea, and coffee. When it comes to parties, decorations make an impression but the food and drink is what’s talked about forever after. Our Spring Spritzer has since become our signature drink for many get togethers.
Presents
We created a festive place to put all the presents and left room so everyone could sit and watch the mom-to-be open her presents.

Loved all your princess theme ideas. My favorite was the toilet paper roll candle holder decor… I have a daughter who loves to make things out of those. Most recently they went into our garden to support tomatoes.
Rachel Ferrucci says
We’ve made quite a few things out of toilet paper rolls. Your daughter would love our bunny napkin holders for Easter- I’ll have to come check out her crafts
