Smooth, flawless skin– we all want it but for many of us, it seems too far out of reach. A lot of us have flaky, wrinkly rough skin, which is less than flattering, to deal with. Luckily, there are a number of very simple things we can all do to ensure that smooth skin is what we see when we look in the mirror.
Check out these nuts and bolts of smooth skin:
Wear Sunscreen
If it’s wrinkles you’re worried about, then using a high-quality sunscreen, like the ones you’ll find at the Coppertone website, is a must. The number one cause of wrinkles and damaged skin is excessive exposure to the sun, and of course, skin cancer is also caused by exposure to UV rays, so by covering your skin before you go out, you can ensure you’re skin is smoother for longer, and protect your health at the same time.
Moisturize
Moisturizing day and night will help to keep your skin soft and smooth by ensuring that it has all of the moisture it needs to avoid drying out. It will also help to keep those dreaded wrinkles at bay.
Exfoliate
Check out the Exfoliate website if you’re looking for ways to replace, dull and flaky skin with soft, smooth skin that glows. Exfoliating is the process of getting rid of dead skin cells so that the fresher, more youthful skin can shine through. If you want smooth skin, exfoliating is a step you can’t skip.
Use Hypoallergenic Beauty Products
If you’ve noticed that your skin itches, turns red or gets dry when you use certain products, throw them in the trash immediately. Chances are you have sensitive skin, and if that’s the case, hypoallergenic products will help to keep it smooth.
Pat Your Skin
When you get out of the bath or shower, instead of rubbing yourself dry, try gently patting your skin instead. This will ensure that your skin is smoother than ever before, especially if you follow-up with a good body lotion and a light layer of coconut oil.
Say Bye-Bye to Skin Tags
Skin tags are very common, and most of us don’t really worry about the small brown or flesh colored balls of flesh that pop up on the face, neck and bikini area, but if they bother you, and you want your skin to be as smooth as possible, have a doctor either remove them with an electric needle or surgical scalpel. It’ll take seconds and leave you feeling smoother than ever.
Shave in the Direction of Growth
If you want the skin on your legs (and anywhere else you shave) to be smooth and sexy, instead of bumpy and unattractive, try shaving in the direction of your hair’s growth. You won’t get quite as close a shave, which means you’ll have to do it more often if you want to stay smooth, but you won’t get those nasty bumps either. It’s a tradeoff worth making.
Go Above and Beyond to Tackle Acne Issues
Many skin issues are simply genetic, meaning that no matter how much you wash, exfoliate and moisturize your skin, some people will always suffer with acne unless they take further action. That could mean finding the right medication or stronger skin creams. It might also mean making use of things like blue light therapy for acne. There are lots of options out there that are worth exploring if acne is a major issue for your skin.
As you can see, smooth skin is very easy to achieve. If, after trying the above, you find that your skin is still flaky, irritated and rough, you might want to see a professional dermatologist because you could have a medical condition affecting your skin.
