Nowadays, we tend to think that the only way we can look gorgeous is if we have put makeup on, but whoever created that assumption? Sure, makeup is a lovely way to add drama to a face and highlight your favorite areas while masking others. But it’s a lot of effort too, and when it’s summertime, who wants to go through their whole makeup routine every day, when you can look just as flawless without all of that?
Here’s how.
Use a face wash
Wipes are great if you’re on the go and need to freshen up, but you should get into the routine of washing your face properly with a face wash designed for your skin type, whether that be dry, oily or sensitive. You want one that will remove all the dirt and pollution that your skin has come into contact with throughout the day. Do this in the morning when you get up, and in the evening before you go to bed.
Moisturize
The more moisturized your skin is, the softer and healthier it will be. Having said that though, not all moisturizers are good, as they can cause an invisible film over your face, essentially masking the dryness as a pose to treating it. So it’s worth investing in an expensive, reputable brand for your skin, which stimulates your own cells to create moisture.
Use a toner
Toners tend to be overlooked and forgotten about, but these are really important to keep the youth in your skin. They help to tighten your skin up, so it doesn’t lose its elasticity over time due to rubbing (done by washing or applying makeup, etc.)
They also help to close up your pores which you will want to do. The greasier your skin type is, the bigger, more visible pores you will have. Pair that up with a good pore minimizer to maximize the effects and hide what you’re dealing with.
Drink water
We all know the benefits of drinking water, they are drilled into us from an early age, but one of the best benefits of drinking plenty of water is the effect it has on our skin. Plus it doesn’t cost anywhere near as much as your makeup does! Water not only helps your skin to glow, but prevents you from getting wrinkles, and keeps your skin looking and feeling fresh all day.
Applying sunscreen
No matter what the weather is doing, no matter what the season is, and no matter what time of day it is – you should always wear sunscreen. To clarify – rain, clouds, winter, snow, night time – you should still be wearing sunscreen. Believe it or not, even if the sun isn’t shining, there are still tons of harmful UV rays that are out there trying to damage your skin. Even the light that comes off looking at a computer screen is bad! So keep sunscreen with you wherever you go, and top it up when need be – even if you don’t plan on leaving the house.
