One of my favorite vacation memories as a kid was when my mom took me took California. We went to visit my grandfather, it was my first time meeting him and all my aunts, uncles, and cousins. I was nine years old and this would be my first time to California. They planned an action packed two weeks. We went to every major tourist attraction and of course the beach.
Disneyland was one of my favorite places. This was the first time I got to see Mickey and Minnie up close and personal. I was very outgoing back then (go figure) and Captain Hook grabbed me and had me dancing in the parade with him and then handed me over to The Three Pigs. Ever since then Captain Hook has been my favorite guy!
Knotts Berry Farm was fun too but my most memorable moment was when a bird crapped on my new hat. The hat has tiny holes in it and my mom had to take me in the bathroom and wash part of my hair plus I swear she threw my hat at the bird and knocked him out (but that’s another story). The picture here is before the poop incident.
I always loved horses and I used to love the cowboy movies when I was little so when I got to sit on Trigger while he was rearing, it was a pretty big deal.
I also went to The Hollywood sign, The Hollywood Walk of Fame, where I took a picture by Rin Tin Tin and Shirley Temple (two favorites). beverly Hills was beautiful and driving in the mountains was an experience to remember. This city girl was never in a mountain and your first time will always be remembered!
California was truly one of the best vacations ever! My pictures are old and turning yellow in the old glue albums and I’m thankful that Yes Video can take my pictures and put them on DVD and truly make them last forever!
What is one of your favorite memories as a kid?
