The Margaritaville Beach House Key West brings the Margaritaville state of mind to life along Key West’s largest stretch of beach, Smathers Beach. The resort has 186 spacious suites, a lagoon-style pool, and lounging hammocks throughout the grounds. Exclusive amenities include poolside entertainment, daily refreshments, a 24-hour fitness center, kids’ activities, lawn games, and easy access to beachfront.
Key West, a U.S. island city, is part of the Florida Keys archipelago. It’s also Florida’s southernmost point, lying roughly 90 miles north of Cuba. Famed for its pastel-hued, conch-style houses and its coral reefs, it’s a great destination for diving and snorkeling. It also has an abundance of restaurants, activities, art, bars, and the most beautiful sunsets you’ll ever see.
MARGARITAVILLE Beach House Key West
In true Margaritaville style, you’ll drive up and see a giant flip flop but the first thing that will get your attention will be the yellow island style bamboo Buick!
The Rooms
From standard to two bedroom suites the luxury of this island escape. Each room is beautiful designed light and airy and The Change In Latitude is a Change In Attitude!
The suites are complete with a living and dining area, fully equipped kitchenette, and over-sized bathroom.
The Resort
Upon checking in, you’ll receive a water-proof bracelet (room key) that you can wear in the pool or in the ocean and of course a margarita. Spend some time looking around, from the Margaritaville glasses hanging from to the ceiling to the Jimmy Buffet art work, you’ll find decor you want to take home. Enjoy the absolutely beautiful grounds and don’t be alarmed when you see the different sizes in lizards. They’re harmless and often visit by the pool!
TIP: When you first arrive be sure to take a walk around the resort. You’ll find many hammocks in secluded areas as well as Cornhole. Many places to take photos!
TIP: There are bicycles, scooters, and golf carts on the premise to rent.
Staff
The staff is amazing. Housekeeping was on top of everything and even stopped by the morning of checkout to see if there was anything we needed. The reception desk and drivers gave 5 star service but I was a little disappointed with the restaurant servers. I did have to ask for my waitress, however, they were still pleasant and the food and the view made up for it.
Tin Cup Chalice Bar & Chill
You’ll find complimentary coffee here each morning. The open setting with panoramic views overlooking the courtyard and lagoon-style pool area, allows for all-day alfresco dining on the veranda. Menu items feature everything from ceviche, grilled watermelon & feta, and ahi mango salad to pork belly sliders, whole fried snapper, and wagyu skirt steak. My favorite was the coconut shrimp and the waffle and fruit for breakfast. It’s perfect for your Cheeseburger In Paradise!
TIP: You can dress Salty or Stylish! Bathing suits, sundresses, or shorts are all acceptable.
TIP: The bar closes at 11:00pm
The Beach
The beach is right across the street (about a 90 second walk). You will enter paradise with pristine powdery white sands, swaying palms and crystal-clear blue waters. We spent three days at the beach, I couldn’t get enough.
You can rent chairs, umbrellas, tubes, and more to enjoy your beach day. Rental is until 5pm.
In true Jimmy Buffet style, I blew out my flip flop. Well, actually I left them next to my chair in the sun. When I went to put them on, they not only curled up but they shrunk. The sun was so strong it melted my flip flops!
TIPS:
- Grab towels from the pool area (You need your room key to use the towel vending machine)
- Two chairs and an umbrella costs $50 a day and the tube is $10. I suggest you purchase light beach chairs and a tube that you can use all week then pass it on to someone else and just rent the umbrella each day.
- Go first thing in the morning to reserve your spot. Once you pay for the umbrella and/or chairs you have them until 5 pm. They’ll give you a flag to set by your spot.
- You can leave the beach and go over to the hotel for lunch and come back.
- The sun is very strong, even if you think you tan well, you should wear at least spf 50 sunblock and reapply often. (We went through 2 cans of spray)
- You can bring a cocktail from the hotel to the beach. It’s five o’clock somewhere!
Transportation
Complimentary shuttle service to the airport, Duval Street, and the Downtown Seaport Harbor is available. You can also use Uber if you plan on making it a late night.
Mega TIP: The bamboo Buick aka The Booty Mobile out front….. it runs, and if you ask for Ryan, he will take you for a ride in it.
The Pool
Plan on spending a day by the pool. There is service for drinks and you can order something for lunch from Tin Cup Chalice Bar & Chill. Grab a tube, float in the pool, and enjoy the sun.
TIP: The Iguanas’ are pretty large and will walk through the pool area. Be careful with your cocktails, if you sit your cup on the ground, they will drink it. They are in the Margaritaville state of mind too!
This is a vacation where you choose if you want to relax by the pool, spend a day at the beach, go snorkeling, rent a jet ski, take a sunset cruise, or party the night away. We’re already planning for next year, only this time, we’re bringing lots of friends. I Have Found Us A Home!
Lastly, a couple TIPS from the locals.
Try the local brewery beers.
If you really want to go where the locals go, the VFW hall serves a killer Prime Rib on Thursday nights at a great price.
