Everyone likes a party right? I know I do, with that being said the 10th anniversary party for the #Macys Culinary Council was nothing short of spectacular! I was really excited to be invited to this event. The event was held at Stella 34 on the 6th fl Macys NYC. The restaurant is simply delightful providing incredible views of The Empire State Building combined with modern seating & open kitchen. Next time you’re in the city make sure to stop by for lunch or dinner, you will not be disappointed.
The evening began with a short intro & cake cutting by Macys President & CEO Terry Lundgren and the attending council members. It was amazing to see so many highly acclaimed expert chefs in one room! Council members in attendance included Tom Douglas, Todd English, Marc Forgione, Johnny Iuzzini, Marcus Samuelsson, Nancy Silverton, Ming Tsai, and Takashi Yagihashi. Next we dove right into the menu tasting samples from each chef’s personal recipe! See the menu below. Each chef shared their own personal specialty & each recipe was simply delicious. While samples were served we mingled all evening with the chefs. It was surreal to be able to tell Chef Ming Tsai how spectacular his wontons were or Chef Johnny Iuzzini how amazing his red velvet cupcakes tasted.
Servers continuously walked around with fresh samples. Name tags for each chef was included on the trays as they spread throughout the restaurant. There were also tables set up along the back wall with additional samples from Michelle Bernstein, Cat Cora, and Stephanie Izard. There was also Wolfgang Puck’s spicy chicken pizza which was served right from the brick ovens to your plate.
Guests of the 10th Anniversary event really got a treat from all aspects of the culinary world. Sampling recipes from some of the best chefs in the world was only the beginning. You were able to sit and watch as the Stellar 34 kitchen was at its prime, pumping out dozens of freshly made samples for the tasting. Not to mention you had the opportunity to ask any culinary question you had to the best of the best! The chefs of the Macys Culinary Council not only wanted to hear your questions, but they really took the time to dig deep and find out what YOUR connection was in the kitchen. It didn’t matter if you were part of the Council or just starting out with a toaster oven, they wanted to know .. and help!
