Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel in Sex Tape Movie

July 16, 2014 Rachel Ferrucci Leave a Comment

I was a media guest of Sony Pictures and Columbia Pictures to attend the advance screening of the movie Sex Tape with Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel. After seeing the preview we were able to spend some time with Cameron, Jason, and Director Jake Kasdan.

A little blurry but you get it

When you think sex tape, Kim Kardashian or Paris Hilton probably comes to mind. Kim Kardashian Has Nothing On Cameron Diaz in Sex Tape Movie. Any way this movie is far from a porn and it’s perfect for date night!

If you’re married with kids (any age) you have lists of what you need to get done.

List

A marriage can become, well, stale. You have a set routine and you sometimes wonder how you ever had time to actually produce the children that are consuming your every minute. We are sometimes desperate to figure out how to get the “sex factor” back. Remember when you looked at each other and knew within hours you’d be getting it on….somewhere? This fun comedy portrays just that.

Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) are a married couple still very much in love, but ten years and two kids have cooled the passion. To get it back, they decide – why not? – to make a video of themselves trying out every position in THE JOY OF SEX in one marathon three-hour session. It seems like a great idea, until they discover that their most private video has gone public. In a panic, they begin a wild night of adventure – tracking down leads, roping in friends, duping Annie’s boss – all to reclaim their video, their reputation, their sanity, and, most importantly, their marriage.

Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in Columbia Pictures' SEX TAPE.

It’s time to take a step to rekindling that spark. I’m not saying you should create a sex tape but I will say, grab your spouse, get a sitter, and go see this movie. Talking about sex isn’t easy for everyone but this movie, being a comedy, will help open the door.

I said to Jason, “I wonder how many people will watch the movie and go home and make a sex tape?”

Jason: “I think what will happen ( as opposed to the actual making of a sex tape which may happen for some couples) is your get back in the car with your date or husband or wife, and as your driving home you’ll have a laugh about some of the funny things that were in it. Then there will be that pause and you’ll drive in silence for a minute and then the real discussion will start about we haven’t had as much sex as we used to. That’s the real function of the movie to start the conversation… hey maybe there’s something to do that of what they were talking about.”

Cameron added, “Maybe we need to communicate our needs better!”

Before you ladies get crazy on me and say of course he wanted to make a sex tape, you’ll be surprised that Annie suggested this.

In our interview, Cameron said, “Women own what they already own, They have their desires and needs and their healthy way of thinking about sex!”

I can’t agree more with Cameron, women need to own it like Annie. Take charge of what we want in the bedroom…..or car……or plane.

Many scenes in a comedy are funny but I wondered if anything funny happened on the set that was unexpected. That question was answered

What was the funniest thing that happened when you were filming?

Jason answered, “I think the funniest thing that turned into the worst thing potentially was we had an elaborate dog chase and we showed up on set and there was gonna be an action packed sequence and it was the sweetest friendliest dog and we had to make him scary looking. The unedited footage makes it look like Jay, my character is a wimp, terrified of the sweetest dog of all time”

(For the animal lovers- There was also a puppet used for a body double for the dog)

The movie also has others that will make you laugh just as hard. Hank played by Rob Lowe was hysterical, Harold played by Harrison Holzer made you want to slap a kid, and the surprise cameo will make you say – O M G!

Cameron Diaz does something she’s never done before in her upcoming movie, “Sex Tape” — she gets naked on camera. OR does she????

After being asked about appearing nude in the film, Diaz said. “It’s just silly. We are just making a comedy. We are not actually naked.”

Cameron and Jason’s chemistry flow perfect on screen and here’s an insiders tip. They are hysterical off camera as well. I don’t think I laughed at an interview as much as this one. Cameron is just as beautiful in person and actually gave me advice!

Advice From Cameron

Before Cameron came in (Jason was already there), we were having a conversation about my unhealthy eating habits. As she came in she had a puzzled look on her face so I filled her in how I’m an ice cream, chocolate, and cream puffs kind of girl.

Cameron gave me this advice “I don’t see anything wrong with it as long as you do a little bit rather than a lot, in moderation, if you work out you can out you can eat anything you want. Everyone thinks discipline means deprivation and discipline means you can have everything you want!”

What did Director Jake Kasdan have to say (also director of Bad Teacher)?

Jessica from A Parent In America asked Jake, “Why should we see this movie at the theatre?

Director Jake Kasdan answered, “I think this is a movie for people who feel exactly that way. I would describe myself in exactly the same demographic. When we were finally getting ready to do it [make the film], I showed it to my wife, we have three little kids, and I said you should read this and see what you think, as I do with everything I am serious about.

“She had been a little skeptical when she read the title, but she read it and immediately said, ‘I love this,’ and she said, ‘When I have dinner with my girlfriends, this is all we are talking about.’”

Kasdan continued, “It’s like this phenomenon, this juncture in life, especially when we have little kids. All of our close friends have kids, from babies up to age eight or ten, that’s where we are living right now. We dig it, but it’s definitely full of all the different issues, and you go, I’m like the parent person now! Yes, I love it, but also I love what things were like before that.

Would you make a sex tape with your better half??

Why did no one warn us that menopause would turn our bodies into a crime scene… Dryness. Pain. Sneezing roulette. UTIs showing up uninvited. And doctors smiling politely and saying, “That’s just aging.” Cool. Love that for us.

Say Hello to Silky Peach Cream 🍑 A bioidentical estriol cream that works locally to rebuild thinning tissue, restore moisture, and bring back comfort where it actually matters. Not a Band-Aid. Not a $350 prescription. Not a lube that disappears by lunchtime.

Estriol is the gentlest form of estrogen our bodies naturally make, and Silky Peach Cream puts it back exactly where menopause took it away. Over time, tissue rebuilds, moisture returns, and suddenly intimacy doesn’t feel like sandpaper and regret.

Two pumps nightly. Then maintenance. Because it took years to get this dry… it’s okay if it takes a little time to feel normal again.

I’m done whispering about menopause. I got my life back. And my peach is happy again!

I didn’t expect this to be the hardest part of getting older.

If sex hurts. If you avoid intimacy. If you dread wiping.

It’s not “just dryness.” It’s estrogen loss. And yes, it’s fixable.

Menopause doesn’t ease in quietly. It shows up hot, uncomfortable, and disruptive. And for way too long, women are told to whisper about it or accept it as “just aging.” I’m done with that.

Silky Peach Cream helped restore moisture, rebuild thinning tissue, and bring back comfort where menopause took it away. Not a quick fix. Not a Band-Aid. Just real, gradual relief that made me feel like myself again.

Two pumps. Some patience. And a lot less suffering.

Stop whispering about menopause. You deserve relief. You deserve joy. Your peach deserves to be happy again.

Get the details and try it for yourself at the link in my bio.

When I found out I needed surgery, my 1st thought wasn’t the procedure. It was the fear of being handed opioids again with no real choice. After my last surgery, opioids were the only option I had, my insurance didn’t cover the non-opioid alternatives I specifically asked for. That showed me how quickly exposure can happen. Many people don’t realize that about 1 in 10 patients who receive opioids after surgery will struggle with long-term use. That’s nearly 4 million people per year. It’s no secret that opioids can lead to addiction, & we should be much louder about the fact that there are non opioid options that can be used during surgery to manage pain afterwards.
Medicare already recognizes this & separately reimburses for FDA-approved non-opioid pain treatments, proving these options are real & available. Yet insurance barriers often make them difficult or impossible to access. Instead of making decisions about my recovery with my doctor, insurance policy made them for me. As I prepare for my next surgery, I want access to every option that reduces my exposure. I know how easily things can escalate. I’ve seen opioid use continue far longer than intended. It can tear apart families before anyone realizes what’s happening. What starts as short-term pain management after surgery becomes something no one ever expected, simply because safer options were never offered. It’s frustrating that some major insurers still haven’t expanded coverage the way Medicare has. #UnitedHealthcare is one of the companies whose restrictions make it harder to access FDA-approved non-opioid surgical pain options. Because of their size, these decisions affect millions. Surgery shouldn’t be a gateway to opioid addiction. Medicare covers these options. UnitedHealthcare & others need to do the same so patients aren’t pushed toward opioids by outdated policies. Patients & families deserve better.
