Important Things To Do When You Are A Single Parent

July 28, 2021 Rachel Ferrucci

When you are a single parent some things can be very overwhelming. There are situations in life where parents just make life easier like when they are ill or if you have more than one child And they are particularly challenging that day. There are lots of different reasons why you might be a single parent, some you may be happy with the outcome and some reasons you may not be. We have to take what life hands us and make the most of it.

When you are a single parent it is important to have a good support network around you through family and friends and even government services if you use them. Making sure you have good role models in your children’s lives who can offer support and advice on things you may not be able to. It is also handy having people you trust is able to take care of them and babysit if needed. When you are a single parent it’s hard to switch off. You may find that you feel overwhelmed and burnt out. It can affect your parenting, mood and wellbeing so be sure to have time for yourself so you can recharge.

If you are a single parent from a relationship breakdown then it is important to sort out things like custody, financial matters and care as quickly as you can. You will want to be civil as you will always have them in your life from your connection with your children. Seeking advice and assistance from a family law attorney is the best thing to do. They can help you with all matters and make sure the best outcome is achieved for the children involved.

Make use of what you can. A lot of times when you are a single parent you fall into a bracket of a low-income household. There are a lot of things and government schemes to help you out. Things could be available to you like free school meals, help with getting school supplies and uniforms as well as breakfast clubs. You may find help outside the school system too like government funding and clubs/campaigns offering free days out, discounts and exciting activities to keep your children happy and occupied throughout the holidays.

As finances can be more difficult it is important to learn how to budget. You can speak to the companies you pay bills to and see if there is a cheaper option for you to move on to, if they have a single person discount or if it isn’t essential you can scrap it and save the money. Another way to save money is by doing meal plans. By planning what meals you will be having that week you can see what you already have in the house and only buy what you need. You then can save a substantial amount on your grocery shopping but also have less food waste as everything can get eaten. You can even use leftovers for lunch the next day.

I didn’t realize how much poor sleep was affecting my trips… until I fixed it.

Waking up tired, adjusting to new places, different beds, time zones… it adds up fast.

Traveling with the AirMini changed that for me. It’s compact, simple, and makes it easy to stay consistent no matter where I am.

Now I actually feel like I’m experiencing my trips, not just getting through them.

Check it out at the link in my bio.

#ad No one tells you that your skin doesn’t just “age”… it changes.

Dryness, dullness, fine lines, that crepey texture… it’s not just time. It’s hormonal.

I kept layering on creams thinking I just needed something “better,” but nothing was actually addressing what was going on underneath.

M4 from @myalloy is different. It’s prescription skincare made specifically for hormonal skin, using topical estriol to help restore collagen, hydration, and elasticity right where your skin needs it.

It doesn’t enter your bloodstream. It works at the skin level. And honestly… it just makes sense.
