The snow and cold weather has finally left us and the warm air has been welcomed with opened arms. We now can pack up the car and plan our next road trip or day trip. I try to plan a road trip at least every other weekend and make sure I plan so I get everything in. I start with a wish list:
Girlfriend Getaway (Me and my besties)
Family Getaway (The whole family)
Couples Fun Adventure (My husband and I with other couples)
Friends Fun Adventure (My husband and all our friends)
Romantic Getaway (Me and my husband alone)
Grandkids Fun Time (Us with our princes)
I then start searching for the perfect places in driving distance, which for me is up to six hours. I find the perfect settings for what we want to do. Again more lists are created with activities, food, spas, shopping, and lodging. Once the destination is determined and booked I get right down to my list for packing. I keep a travel bag ready with toiletries so I only need to refresh those. One thing that most people forget about is the car. This is how you’ll be getting to where you want to be and also how you’ll get home. Your car needs to be in tip top shape. Getting gas is a no brainer but a quick check-up or oil change wouldn’t hurt if you are close to the due date. Also please don’t forget about your tires! We spoke earlier about the snow leaving but it left behind lots of dirt and plenty of pot holes to make you feel like you are driving in a video game trying to avoid them. These pot holes put wear and tear on our tires.
Let me tell you about a cool program that will help you get your car ready for your overdue getaway! The Sam’s Club Dare to Compare all-in tire offer is truly unbeatable. How Sam’s Club “Dare to Compare” offer works: Bring a valid “all-in” quote from a tire sales and installation retailer to your Sam’s Club Tire and Battery Center service counter. The quote must be printed on dealer/retailer letterhead and dated within the past 7 business days. The tire must be the same brand, same line, same load index and speed rating (service description) as the tire intended for purchase at Sam’s Club. Sam’s Club carries some club-specific tire lines – in these cases, Sam’s Club will compare the club-specific tire line to the equivalent general-market tire line. Sam’s Club considers the following tire lines to be equivalent and will price match accordingly: Club-Specific Tire Model General-Market Tire Model BFGoodrich Touring T/A BFGoodrich Advantage T/A Michelin Defender XT Michelin Defender Michelin X Radial LT2 Michelin LTX M/S2
BF Goodrich 5/6/2015 5/31/2015 $50/$70 off set of 4 Michelin 5/14/2015 7/5/2015 $70 off set of 4 Pirelli 5/15/2015 7/12/2015 $80 Instant Savings Goodyear 6/24/2015 8/31/2015 $70 off set of 4

What road trips or day trips do you have planned?
This post brought to you by Sam’s Club. All opinions here are 100% mine.
Robin (Masshole Mommy) says
We have a mini (2 hour) road trip planned this weekend. A 4 hour trip to Vermont next month and then a 6 hour trip to Hershey later this summer 🙂
Susanna @Zealous Mom says
That is such a great wish list! I think I’ll steal it for my own. Enjoy the warm weather!
Lindsey @ Redhead Baby Mama says
What a great list of vacations to hit this summer. I also agree with you. My warehouse club is a great buy for tires and purchases like that.
Stacie @ Divine Lifestyle says
We try to take short, two to three day trips to the beach at least three times a year. It’s so much fun.
Kate K (My Mommy Brain) says
We are planning day trips to Asheville and hopefully to the beach.
Debra says
We drive down to the Jersey Shore a few weekends every summer. We’re also heading out to either Boston or Baltimore for a long weekend – all road trips!
kristi says
The only roadtrips we have planned right now are getting our kids to and from camp….4 hours each way. Making sure tires are in great shape is super important!
Catherine S says
I don’t have anything planned right now. We usually just do local stuff in the summer. I will have to take my car to Sam’s when I need new tires.
Carly Brydon says
Road trips are always so much fun! We are taking a road trip to Chicago next month – can’t wait!
Pam says
We have several road trips planned this summer. We will be moving my son into college in Mississippi soon.
Marcie W. says
We are already Sam’s Club members so this program is an awesome bonus. Vehicle maintenance is always important but especially before those long trips.
Lyndsey Jones says
Sam’s Club is a great place to have a membership to have. Road trips are always fun.
Theresa says
I often wonder why I would go through the trouble to get a quote, then turn around and drive my car somewhere else to have that price matched? Sam’s Club doesn’t try to beat the price? Just curious 😉
We are still up in the air over if we want to take a road trip this summer or not. We might head south to Tennessee or maybe East towards Niagra Falls.
Debbie Denny says
I like thinking out trips. Like the maintenance idea.
Megan @ C'mon Get Crafty says
Now you are a seriously organized, and I love it! We are going to travel about three hours for a family getaway with cousins for the fourth of July weekend.
Sabrina @ Dinner, then Dessert says
It’s important to triple-check your list before leaving on a road trip! You don’t want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere without an item you need!
Jeanine says
Road trips are so fun. Sadly, no road trips or day trips planned for us! At least not this summer!
Ora Lee Gurr says
We’re planning a daycation to Yosemite later this fall. It’s about 4 hours away when the weather’s good. I think the birthday celebration in October will be too crowded to attend. It was interesting to note their advice on the site about the size of the park and conflict with GPS. Enjoy your trips!
Crystal says
I’m envious of the amount of road trips you’re able to take. I would love to take a few myself this summer.
Beth@FrugalFroggie says
I need new tires. I haven’t checked out prices yet but I love the prices at Sam’s Club so they will be on my list.
Chrystal | Nevermore Lane says
What a beautiful Lexus and spectacular view. I really have been feeling the itch to travel more. I think its because I am going to be 40 next month and I have spent my life afraid of so much. I dont want to be that person any more.
Toni | BoulderLocavore says
I think you are exactly right on the length of time for the optimum road trip. I usually take a big road trip every year with my kids and find no more than 6 hours a day is best. I love all your wish list trips! Makes me think I should start planning one too.
Amber K says
Great trip and right on time! We’re getting ready to road trip across the country!!
Anne (@notasupermom) says
Perfect timing–one of my tires has a slow leak. I’m going to call them today. I hate getting work done on the car, but at least I can shop while I wait.
Raijean says
I absolutely love a good road trip as long as it’s not over 4 hours and I don’t have to to drive…lol Great tips, I will be using several of them.
Kiwi says
WOW I didnt know Sam’s Club did all that. I am working on a weekend roadtrip right now!!
Ann Bacciaglia says
I always get my car checked before i go on a road trip. I am planning on a few road trips this summer. I will have to go to my parents house a few times and they live a few hours away.
Shannon Gurnee says
I love Sam’s Club! I didn’t realize you could take your car there now to be worked on. That’s great news!
Latoicha says
I plan to take a road trip to Memphis, TN to visit friends and another end of the Summer road trip to visit my Dad in Florida. I love road trips.
