The nice people at Holman Ranch let us stay with them for a couple of nights. Why would they do this? This is a case of ‘if you got it, flaunt it’. Let me talk you through it and you will see what I mean.

Nestled in the mountains of California’s wine country of Carmel Valley is the 20 acre Holman Ranch and Vineyard. Yes, this is an active winery. We will get back to that. The ranch goes back to the turn of the 19^th century and has a huge history. At one point, it was kind of a dude ranch for the rich and famous which included Vincent Price (Paul is a fan), Marlon Brando, Clarke Gable and Joan Crawford.

In 2009, the newest owners finished remodeling it. They did a wonderful job at making it new without losing the century old charm. They have two things happening at the ranch. First, it can be used as a wedding and event venue. You can take a picture pretty much anywhere and it will be gorgeous.  Also, for those of you looking for a Catholic tradition, they have a sanctified chapel. There are enough rooms to place the whole wedding party. The rooms are bungalow style with rustic but modern features.

Secondly, it is an active winery with some amazing wine. They have their own wine cave where they make and age the wine. The wine is a boutique winery so it is not sold on the market, only through their wine of the month membership. They shared their wine with us and it was amazing.
