Halloween Makeup Ideas: Festive or Fabulous? Why Not Both!

October 16, 2024 Rachel Ferrucci

Halloween isn’t just about the perfect costume; it’s also a chance to play with makeup, try out bold looks, and turn yourself into whoever—or whatever—you want for the night. Whether you’re heading to a costume party, joining a virtual hangout, or just snapping pics for the ‘gram, your makeup can make you feel like the ultimate baddie. The key is finding that perfect balance between festive vibes and looking absolutely gorgeous. Let’s explore some killer ideas that are guaranteed to make you the star of any Halloween event.

The Classic Cat Eye, But Make It Spooky

Nothing says Halloween like a classic cat look, but we’re taking it to another level. Instead of just the usual whiskers and black nose, think dramatic, elongated cat eyes with sharp, exaggerated winged liner that stretches almost to your temples. Use black eyeshadow to create a smoky effect around your eyes for that fierce, feline vibe. Add shimmery shadow in golds or deep purples to make your eyes pop, and if you’re feeling adventurous, try colored contact lenses—like cat-eye contacts that bring the whole look together.

Pair this with a bold red lip to give a modern twist. Forget basic—this is about high-drama elegance that still feels totally wearable. Whether you’re pairing it with a cat costume or going for a glam, witchy aesthetic, the options are endless, and you’ll look like a straight-up queen.

Sultry Skeleton: The Glam Skull Loo

We know skull makeup has been done a million times, but this version screams chic and sophisticated. It’s all about using metallic shades like silver, gold, or even holographic hues to create a skeleton look that’s more sultry than scary. Use a black liquid liner to sketch out the bones around your eyes, cheekbones, and jawline. Then, fill in those areas with shimmer powders or metallic face paints that catch the light and give you that otherworldly glow.

And remember, we’re not talking about DIY kid’s costumes here; this look will scream chic and edgy. Finish the look with a dark lip—like a deep plum or midnight black—topped with a touch of glitter gloss. The result? A skeleton look that’s more runway-ready than a haunted house. Pair it with a sleek, black outfit, and you’ve got the perfect combo of spooky and stunning.

Ice Queen Realness: Elsa, But Make It Fierce

We all know the Elsa look is a favorite, but it’s time to give it a major upgrade. Forget the basic blue eyeshadow and, instead, go all in with frosty, icy vibes. Start by applying a pale blue or white base over your eyelids, blending it out toward your temples for that ice-blown look. Next, add some glitter and silver accents to make your eyes sparkle like fresh snow. But here’s the twist—you can take your perfect Elsa look to another level with DIY blue eyelashes extensions and who knows? You might keep them on for a week after Halloween because they’re just that cute.

For your lips, a frosty, pale pink or blue will seal the deal. Finish the whole look with a snowflake stencil and some white face paint to create delicate, icy patterns across your forehead and cheeks. You’ll look like you stepped right out of a winter wonderland, and trust me—no one will forget your look any time soon.

Glam Vampire: The Undead But Drop-Dead Gorgeous

Vampire makeup is classic for a reason, but we’re stepping away from the fake blood and into something way more luxe. Think sultry, seductive eyes using deep purples, maroons, and black shades. Use a combination of matte and shimmer eyeshadows to create depth, then top it off with a killer cat-eye liner that screams drama. The secret is in the shading—add a hint of red around the eyes for that ‘I’ve been up all night’ vibe, but make it artful.

For the skin, keep it pale and porcelain-like, but add a highlighter with cool undertones to make it pop. Finally, go for a bold lip in either classic red or a black cherry shade that has that vampy edge. This look pairs well with any vintage black dress, a velvet choker, and lace gloves. You’ll look timeless, ageless, and, most importantly, totally gorgeous.

Mystical Forest Fairy: Enchanted, But Make It Fierce

Channel your inner fairy with this ethereal and mystical look that’s all about playing with pastel colors and glitter. Start by applying a shimmery, iridescent base all over your face, using pinks, greens, and blues to create a soft, otherworldly glow. Use these same shades to create a dreamy eyeshadow look, blending them into a gradient that reaches up to your brows.

Add on some pressed flowers around your temples and cheeks for a true nature-inspired vibe. You can even use biodegradable glitter for an eco-friendly touch—because being glam doesn’t mean sacrificing the planet! Finish off with soft, rosy lips, or go bold with a lavender lip color. This makeup idea gives you full fairy-tale energy while keeping it modern and chic.

Trick or Treat, But Make It Stunning

Halloween makeup is all about pushing boundaries, having fun, and making sure you feel absolutely stunning while doing it. Whether you’re channeling a fierce cat, a glam skull, or a mystical fairy, the key is finding a balance between creativity and beauty. So this year, forget the basics—go all in, try something new, and most importantly, own your look. After all, Halloween is the perfect excuse to be whoever you want to be—just make sure you do it in style.

Why did no one warn us that menopause would turn our bodies into a crime scene… Dryness. Pain. Sneezing roulette. UTIs showing up uninvited. And doctors smiling politely and saying, “That’s just aging.” Cool. Love that for us.

Say Hello to Silky Peach Cream 🍑 A bioidentical estriol cream that works locally to rebuild thinning tissue, restore moisture, and bring back comfort where it actually matters. Not a Band-Aid. Not a $350 prescription. Not a lube that disappears by lunchtime.

Estriol is the gentlest form of estrogen our bodies naturally make, and Silky Peach Cream puts it back exactly where menopause took it away. Over time, tissue rebuilds, moisture returns, and suddenly intimacy doesn’t feel like sandpaper and regret.

Two pumps nightly. Then maintenance. Because it took years to get this dry… it’s okay if it takes a little time to feel normal again.

I’m done whispering about menopause. I got my life back. And my peach is happy again!

I didn’t expect this to be the hardest part of getting older.

If sex hurts. If you avoid intimacy. If you dread wiping.

It’s not “just dryness.” It’s estrogen loss. And yes, it’s fixable.

Menopause doesn’t ease in quietly. It shows up hot, uncomfortable, and disruptive. And for way too long, women are told to whisper about it or accept it as “just aging.” I’m done with that.

Silky Peach Cream helped restore moisture, rebuild thinning tissue, and bring back comfort where menopause took it away. Not a quick fix. Not a Band-Aid. Just real, gradual relief that made me feel like myself again.

Two pumps. Some patience. And a lot less suffering.

Stop whispering about menopause. You deserve relief. You deserve joy. Your peach deserves to be happy again.

Get the details and try it for yourself at the link in my bio.

When I found out I needed surgery, my 1st thought wasn’t the procedure. It was the fear of being handed opioids again with no real choice. After my last surgery, opioids were the only option I had, my insurance didn’t cover the non-opioid alternatives I specifically asked for. That showed me how quickly exposure can happen. Many people don’t realize that about 1 in 10 patients who receive opioids after surgery will struggle with long-term use. That’s nearly 4 million people per year. It’s no secret that opioids can lead to addiction, & we should be much louder about the fact that there are non opioid options that can be used during surgery to manage pain afterwards.
Medicare already recognizes this & separately reimburses for FDA-approved non-opioid pain treatments, proving these options are real & available. Yet insurance barriers often make them difficult or impossible to access. Instead of making decisions about my recovery with my doctor, insurance policy made them for me. As I prepare for my next surgery, I want access to every option that reduces my exposure. I know how easily things can escalate. I’ve seen opioid use continue far longer than intended. It can tear apart families before anyone realizes what’s happening. What starts as short-term pain management after surgery becomes something no one ever expected, simply because safer options were never offered. It’s frustrating that some major insurers still haven’t expanded coverage the way Medicare has. #UnitedHealthcare is one of the companies whose restrictions make it harder to access FDA-approved non-opioid surgical pain options. Because of their size, these decisions affect millions. Surgery shouldn’t be a gateway to opioid addiction. Medicare covers these options. UnitedHealthcare & others need to do the same so patients aren’t pushed toward opioids by outdated policies. Patients & families deserve better.
