As a kid, we would all pile in our grandparents car and off we went. There were no car seats, booster seats, and I’m not even sure if the car had seat belts. Going out with my grandparents was one of my favorite things because I knew the spoiling would commence no matter where our trip took us.
Now it’s our time to be the spoiling grandparents, taking our two princes and princess out. We love road trips with them to the aquarium, beach, shopping, or just for ice cream. One of our challenges today is, children are in car seats and booster seats much longer which means if you have more than two grandchildren, you have to think how everyone will fit in your car.
When we bought our current car, we took into consideration the safety but also that it would fit the two car seats. When my daughter informed us of the third baby coming, I knew it would be difficult for us to have all three at once. We forgot to think about if she had more children what we would do.
Around Christmas we always take the kids to Hubbard Park in Meriden CT to see all the beautiful lights. The entire park has lights in shape of animals and they light up the walking bridges, and even have lighted swans on the lake. There’s an amphitheater filled with Christmas trees and a small house you walk around, peeking in each window to see what animated figure is saying hello to you. We break out the hot chocolate and make memories at every display.
We picked up the kids in our Toyota Highlander that we were testing for the week. The entire crew of six all fit comfortable, this included my prince who sat in the third row with our friend Karen. Prince pointed out that he loved the aisle. I didn’t even realize that having the aisle there meant we didn’t have to move the back row up for them to squeeze into the third row. It actually made a huge difference with all our stops!
As we drove through the lighted snowflakes that hung high in the trees, we looked up through the sunroof and didn’t miss a light!
I really liked the look of the Highlander, it had plenty of style with all of Toyota’s standard safety. The Highlander features the Star Safety System, a suite of six active safety features that include Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), and Smart Stop Technology. This means my daughter has no worries when her treasures are out with us and we can enjoy the ride and the laughs and giggles coming from the back seats.
A few things every family car should have besides safety are bird’s eye view cameras, 3 zone climate control, and driver speak easy. The Highlander has a bold first impression and each grade has its own unique tailored grille. I was impressed by the Toyota Highlander on the inside and out! Definitely a car for cool grandparents!
Of course we went for ice cream after checking out the lights!
Made faces at each other and drew silly pictures!
My princess wanted to draw flowers and avengers. The boys???? 100% boys, needed to draw this picture for me!
As any grandmother would do…. I will treasure the picture forever. Oh, how I love them! Remember to think about how much room you need to comfortably and safely fit all your grandchildren in your car. Check out the Toyota Highlander

I’m glad there is a car with all that safety. Especially having great grandchildren myself. Always looking for a better car that is really safe and looks good too.

Once you have kids, safety and room are forever priorities, even when your kids move away. They’re going to have kids of their own (probably) and you’ll still need the same space and safety you did for the grandkids.

The car looks amazing and how much fun is it to spoil the grandkids. I am not looking for a car but I have a Toyota already and it has been a very reliable vehicle.

The joys of grandparenting! I love taking my grandson on road trips too. It is always “safety first” before the car rolls out the driveway. I drive an SUV too which I love because of all the roominess it provides, and its road stability. If we would be getting another vehicle, it would most likely be another SUV and we’ll be looking at the Toyota Highlander as a top choice. That aisle is fantastic!

When we were having our third, finding the perfect mix of car seats was so important. We settled on 3 that worked until we could afford a better car.

It’s so important to find a vehicle that you like and want to keep that fits the people you want it to fit. I’d love to check out a Highlander, I’ve never driven one but have seen them many times.

Sounds like a great ride! We are about to have our 8th baby so whatever car we ever get (when we do!) will have to be bigger, and will be keeping our kids and grandkids in mind. I can’t wait to have grandkids to spoil and spend time with!
