If you’re getting to that point, as a dad, where you think that all you do is the school run, or change diapers, or change your shirt cos it’s got sick on it (again), you’re not alone. I think that there comes a time where you need to get some little part of your life back before it goes forever. And that may sound morbid in some way, but when was the last time you spent a proper night out with your partner? And I mean an actual night out. No concerns. The kids are with your parents. And you are free to just…be free! You can’t remember, can you? And we all experience that seven year itch where we feel we have to cut loose. I remember my mom doing it in her 50’s, and I’ve seen some sights at the local bingo night, so we all have time to do it! And it doesn’t even need to be a standard date. Here, I’ve put some ideas together for you and your partner to do that aren’t the typical dinner and a movie night.
Go For A Gin, After Hours
There are many places you can go for a drink, but what about a cocktail bar, with a swing band, and the speakeasy vibe taking you into the early hours of the morning is a great way to let off some steam. Having a few cheeky cocktails before doing some lindy hop is the perfect alternative to having a few G&T’s.
Get Back Onto The Music Scene
When you were younger, did you go to many gigs or music festivals? Surprising your partner by taking them away to their favorite band from their younger days is a sure-fire way to rekindle some of the excitement of your younger days. And who knows? You may enjoy yourself so much that you won’t even start checking your phone every two seconds to see how the kids are. Chuck in a night in a luxury hotel and some drinks after the gig and you have the bare bones of one amazing night out!
Get Scared Witless!
Taking your other half on a scare attraction like a ghost walk may be a great way to get them to cozy up to you. There is nothing like a good scare to get closer together. Have a look to see what attractions and ghost walks operate near you.
Go Sporting
There is no need to go to a football game, you can do something fun and where you are pitted against each other. Just as long as it doesn’t end in an argument, doing something like crazy golf is perfect as there aren’t any rules and if you get bored, there are plenty of adult crazy golf places that do drinks after hours. Having a bit of “childish” fun yourself is a great way to throw away the responsibility of life for a few hours. We tend to forget how to play, so try and recapture that sense of fun!
