During the winter I become one with my sweatpants, fleece shirts, and fuzzy socks. Jack Frost and I are not friends and by the time January comes I don’t want to leave the house. When I do have somewhere I have to go, I layer my clothes hoping the ice cold air won’t touch my skin. During the winter months I seem to neglect my overall beauty regimens. My biggest neglect are my legs. I can go a week or two easy without shaving. I figure it’s such a time sucker in the shower and who is going to see them. The few reasons to shave are events, special occasions, when I’m wearing a dress or skirt and when I see The Sicilian looking at me and his expression is saying, “This can’t be the woman I married!”
Once shaven my legs feel so smooth and soft, I feel like a new woman. Sexy again! Even though I do get to my legs shaved eventually, the trimming and grooming isn’t a finished summer look…… You know what I mean ladies. There have been times when I thought I would need a power tool, like hedge trimmers. Why do we let winter get in between us and our sexy selves.
It’s spring! If you’re in the northeast, it’s still freezing but it’s time to get your legs ready for summer! You don’t have to steal your husband’s razor because Gillette’s Venus Swirl will get the job done.
Steps To Get Your Legs Ready
- Wait 5-10 minutes after you get in the shower to shave. The warm water opens the hair follicle and softens skin.
- When doing the bikini area, if it’s been a while trim it down first
- Use shaving cream. Never use soap or shower gel, this will dry out your skin and NEVER EVER shave dry.
- Rinse your razor in between strokes. Hair can clog the blades and create missed spots
- Don’t go over the same spot multiple times
- Use a good razor (I’ll be telling you what I use below)
- I use a sugar scrub by lightly rubbing it over my legs. It gently exfoliates and the oils penetrate the skin. Never use a salt scrub
- Pat dry, don’t rub the towel over your legs as that irritates the skin
- Moisturize (not needed if you use a sugar scrub)
My Razor Of Choice
I always used the Gillette Venus and swore by it. Recently I was introduced to the Gillette Venus Swirl. Truthfully the only reason I agreed to try it was because it was a part of the Venus family. The very first thing I noticed was the “Ball” or as they call it, the Flexiball. This new technology offers a totally unique movement like no other male or female razor on the market. Venus Swirl is the first and only razor with the FlexiBall. It moves in multiple directions to navigate all of the tricky areas (knees, ankles, etc). It also helps to shave those hard-to-reach places (especially in bikini area) and captures hair that other razors might miss. There wasn’t multiple passes so my skin was thankful. The grip on the razor made it easy to handle and control without worrying it would slip out of my hand. Did I mention it happens to be my favorite color….purple. Add in the Olay violet swirl shaving cream and you have the perfect pair.
