Life today, compared to our parents is easy. We have the latest technology in household items and every aspect of our life. We can heat something up in 2.5 minutes versus heating it up in the oven or on the stove. Don’t feel like cooking, there are a ton of places who deliver now. We can reach our children in a moments notice via a call or text. We basically can run our whole life through our cell phone. Technically I don’t think we need to leave the house. With all this technology our life should be a breeze, right! The truth is we are more stressed today. Constantly being “ON” is exhausting. There is so much asked of us during the day and stress has become part of the norm. I will try to forget the day and go to bed early but mind chatter then takes over and keeps me up for hours, making the bright eyed bushy tail me lost in the fog of the sleepless night.
There’s also the stress that puzzles you as to why you are feeling stressed. Sometimes it’s an exciting moment like waiting to hear from my daughter when she goes on an interview, a first meeting with a new client, and the big one for me, going away with friends or family. These moments are wonderful memories yet our body stresses.
During the day I’m able to manage any stress that comes my way by walking away from all electronics, grabbing a cup of coffee, and grabbing my favorite magazine or book. I may only read for ten minutes but those ten minutes recharge me and get me ready to start over. If I have more time, I’ll go run an errand. Driving with the radio loud and belting out tunes helps me to get it all out. During my “away time” I don’t even look at my phone, it’s tucked away in the bottom of my purse.
