With a world so focused on fitness, we often think very carefully about how we feed our bodies, but very few of us think about how we feed our hair. However, like any other part of ourselves, what we eat has a direct impact on the health of our hair.
While most of us turn to products to get the healthy, shiny look that we desire, the most effective way to improve the look of our hair is to make sure it is getting the right vitamins and nutrients. And we can do that by eating the right foods. Below are some foods that are good for your hair.
Fatty Fish
When the diet food and fat-free craze took hold, it became ingrained that we should avoid fats at all costs. Thanks to research, we now know that there are bad fats and healthy fats, and those healthy fats are what helps to give your hair plenty of shine. Fatty fish are an excellent source of these healthy fats. Salmon, sardines, and mackerel are all great choices.

Substitute it when baking for healthier treats, use it to make sauces and dips, and even just go the traditional route and enjoy it in a parfait. It is a very versatile food.
Citrus and Tropical Fruits
Vitamin C is always recommended to get over colds, but it also helps to prevent breakage in your hair. Any citrus and most tropical fruits will help, but some are more packed with Vitamin C than others. Just one cup of guava, for example, has four times your daily requirement of Vitamin C.
Anything High in Iron
If you feel like you are losing hair, or just wish less came out in the shower each day, one way you can prevent hair loss is to up your iron intake. While Popeye might have trained you to turn to spinach, the truth is that it isn’t the best way to get your iron. Instead, try incorporating iron fortified cereals into your breakfast routine at least a few days a week
