Facial Exercises to Lift and Sculpt Aging Skin Naturally

October 6, 2024 Rachel Ferrucci

Aging is a beautiful part of life, but as the years go by, we all start to notice changes in our skin—like sagging, fine lines, and a little extra softness around the jawline. While we can’t turn back time, we can give our skin a natural boost with some facial exercises, especially if you’re not quite ready for outside help. Think of these as a mini workout for your face, designed to lift, tone, and keep everything looking fresh. And the best part? You can do them anywhere, whether you’re relaxing on the couch or during your morning skincare routine. Let’s dive into some easy, fun exercises to sculpt and lift your skin!

1. The Cheek Lifter

This move helps firm up your cheeks and give them a natural lift. It’s a great way to target the sagging that can happen with age, plus it adds a little extra perk to your smile!

How to Do It:

  1. Open your mouth to form an “O” shape.
  2. Position your upper lip over your teeth.
  3. Smile to lift the cheek muscles and place your fingers lightly on the top of your cheeks to feel the muscles working.
  4. Hold for 5 seconds, then release. Repeat 10 times.

Check out this video demonstration for a quick guide!

2. The Forehead Smoother

Say goodbye to forehead lines with this simple exercise. It helps smooth out those worry lines and keeps the forehead firm.

How to Do It:

  1. Place both hands on your forehead, spreading your fingers out between your eyebrows and hairline.
  2. Gently sweep your hands outward across your forehead while applying light pressure to tighten the skin.
  3. Repeat this motion 10 times to relax the muscles and smooth out lines.

Watch this quick tutorial to see it in action!

3. The Jawline Definer

If you’re looking to keep your jawline sharp and defined, this exercise is a must. It works the muscles in the lower part of your face to combat sagging.

How to Do It:

  1. Tilt your head back and look at the ceiling.
  2. Push your lower jaw forward to feel a stretch under the chin.
  3. Hold this position for 10 seconds and release.
  4. Repeat 10 times for a noticeable lift along the jawline.

Here’s a great video to guide you through this exercise!

4. The Eye Firmer

If you’re looking to reduce puffiness and firm up the skin around your eyes, this exercise is for you. It helps strengthen the muscles around your eyes, minimizing the appearance of crow’s feet.

How to Do It:

  1. Place your index fingers under each eye, pointing towards your nose.
  2. Open your mouth slightly while keeping your lips relaxed.
  3. Look upwards while squinting the lower eyelids.
  4. Hold this position for 5 seconds, then release. Repeat 10 times.

This video shows you exactly how to do it!

5. The Neck Tightener

Our necks often show signs of aging faster than other areas. This simple exercise helps keep the skin on your neck tight and smooth.

How to Do It:

  1. Sit or stand with your back straight.
  2. Tilt your head back to look at the ceiling.
  3. Press your tongue to the roof of your mouth to engage your neck muscles.
  4. Hold for 5 seconds, then bring your head back to a neutral position.
  5. Repeat 10 times.

Follow along with this video to get the technique just right!

6. The Smile Smoother

Laugh lines are a sign of a life well-lived, but if you’re looking to soften them a bit, this exercise can help. It tones the area around your mouth and gives your smile a little extra lift.

How to Do It:

  1. Hide your teeth with your lips, forming an “O” shape with your mouth.
  2. Smile widely while keeping your teeth covered.
  3. Place your fingers on the corners of your mouth to feel the muscles working.
  4. Hold this position for 10 seconds, then relax. Repeat 10 times.

Here’s a visual guide to make sure you’re doing it correctly!

7. The Face Lift

This move gives your entire face a natural lift and helps firm up the cheek and jaw areas.

How to Do It:

  1. Place your hands on either side of your face, just below your jawline.
  2. Push your hands upwards gently to lift the face, then open your mouth slightly to form an “O” shape.
  3. Hold for 5 seconds and release. Repeat 10 times.

Quick Tips for Best Results

  • Perform these exercises daily or a few times a week for noticeable improvements.
  • Be consistent! Just like any workout, facial exercises take time to show results.
  • Always apply a moisturizer or facial oil before starting to prevent pulling or stretching your skin.

Facial exercises are a fun and natural way to keep your skin looking lifted and toned. Plus, they’re free and can be done almost anywhere! So, set aside a few minutes in your daily routine to give your face a little workout. Your skin will thank you, and you’ll feel more refreshed and confident with every smile.

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
