If you live where it gets cold, real cold….like 20 and 30 degrees, and add just a glimpse of sun then you’re probably among the many who get the “Winter Blues” in January and February. Sleet, Ice, Snow, and nor-easters are not anything to look forward to. Most find every excuse to stay in which means boredom, eating a ton, and having no motivation. This is the perfect time to escape the cold and chill in Margaritaville! When I want to “chill” I want to do it the Jimmy Buffett way. So Escape The Cold and Chill – Here is Everything To Know About Margaritaville Resort in Hollywood, Florida–
If you don’t know all the words to Jimmy Buffett songs, I suggest for you to brush up and get ready to have the best time doing nothing. If you’re an activity junkie, have no fear because there is plenty for you to do!
Bama Breeze
The Margaritaville Hollywood Beach resort is perfectly located on Hollywood Beach in Florida. Inspired by the lyrics and lifestyle of the great Jimmy Buffett, this resort lives up to being the spot for Destination Paradise. Steps away from the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk (yes, it’s broadwalk not boardwalk), you will find plenty of cafes and bars along the 2.5 mile stretch. We walked along the broadwalk a couple times each day enjoying the village feel and the views of the waves rolling in from the Atlantic Ocean. It seems all the natives take advantage of this and you will be passed by joggers, skateboarders, and bikers.
TIP: When walking, watch you don’t end up in the bike lane and always look before you cross!
Fins to the left
We enjoyed getting up and heading to the beach for the day. Unlike the northeast, you can start your beach day later and still get all the sun you want! One of the days we headed to the beach at 10:00 am. We were greeted by the beach valet who set us up with chairs and an umbrella. The waiter came by for our drink order…remember It’s 5 o’clock Somewhere! I had TWO Bahama Mamas!!!
TIP: You can leave your chairs set up if you’d like to leave to go eat or take a walk, just let them know you’ll be back.
Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes
The minute you enter the lobby and see the enormous chandelier made out of margarita glasses and the giant bright blue flip flop, you will understand the true meaning of “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes”.
This will be confirmed when you step into your room. Each room has a view of either the Atlantic Ocean or the Intracoastal waterway. I had the pleasure to tour different rooms and whether you’re escaping with your better half or your entire family the accommodations will cater to your needs. Choose from a standard room to suites with up to two bedrooms.
TIP: Housekeeping does a turn down each night. Also you don’t need to take your room towels for the pools or beach
Cheeseburger In Paradise
Restaurants, pools, and bars Oh My! There are plenty of places to eat and drink. JWB Prime Steak and Seafood restaurant off the main lobby served one of the best steaks I ever had and I’m super picky! All sides are ala carte and will feed 2-4 people.
TIP: Dress casual and wear your flip flops! Leave your heels at home- you won’t be needing them here!
The LandShark Bar & Grill is a must stop for lunch. I suggest the cheeseburger (DUH) and sit outside on the deck so you can watch the people pass on the broadwalk. You can also see everyone on the Flow Rider which is fun to watch. Margaritaville is great for breakfast in the morning or for cocktails at night. Each night there was a live band there so we got to shake our groove thing. 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill is a must for chilling at night. It’s located across the street and you will find a fire pit, adirondack chairs in beach sand and music. There’s a kick ass Reggae band there every Sunday but get there early to get your seats!
Wasted away again in Margaritaville
Toes in the sand and a drink in my hand was my goal at Mararitaville and I succeeded. The friendly and relaxed atmosphere will let you enjoy true chill time. Choose one of the three beautiful pools to take a swim or float. Our favorite was the adult only pool which had huge round lounges that have nap written all over them. You’ll meet people from all over and from all walks of life. You can also grab a cabana by one of the other pools for privacy or for a girlfriend’s private pool party! There may be drinks in everyone’s hand but the resort is very family friendly!
Tip: If you’re planning on spending a day by the pool, try to get there early to grab chairs.
Fruitcakes
We all want to be fruitcakes once in a while. I turned on my adventure and signed up for the Flow Rider! The hot surfer boys will guide you and help you to get your footing. The rush of the thrill empowered me and I was able to stay up for about 15 seconds!! GO ME! It was so awesome, and although I wiped out (and not gracefully) I bragged about my war wounds. No worries, it was a few black and blues because this mama is out of shape.
Tip: You will need to wear a rashguard or t-shirt. The power of the water will pull your suit up or down. I wore a tank top and shorts over my suit and my boobs I’m sure came out at one point.
I didn’t get to experience the spa but if it’s up to the rest of the resort, I’m sure it will be up to the Spa Snobs level of standards.

It does get cold here, so I am totally jonesing for a trip here. I could do with chucking the high heels and lounging in flip flops for a week or two 🙂

I used to travel to Florida every year. It’s definitely worth the trip ad the relaxation time is unbeatable. An 11 am temp of 76 in the middle of February is hard to dismiss when it’s 26 in your own front yard.

I sit here trying to stay as warm as possible and then I see you in a bathing suit! I wish I could have the means to fly there and stay in the Margaritaville resort until the winter is over!
