I attended the epic Spider-Man Homecoming press junket in the screening room at The Whitby Hotel in New York City. It started with meeting some of my favorite bloggers at Le Parker Meridien and having a quick bite and a drink (prosecco of course).
Off we went to the screening (my review will be coming tomorrow!).
After the screening of course we explored the very city that Peter Parker lives in and saves from villains. I am in NYC often but walking around spotting all the Spider-Man Homecoming promotional posters and billboards was very exciting. It’s opening in theaters on July 7th but I already have all the inside info, and you can too if you follow along.
The next morning we headed to The Whitby Hotel for our interviews. This interview was a little bit different than usual and it was more like a conference mixed with traditional journalists, bloggers, and radio/social/TV media. They broadcasted live on Facebook and definitely worth the watch. Spider-Man Homecoming Facebook Live Video.
The panel included from left to right:
- Amy Pascal- Producer
- Kevin Feige- Producer and head of Marvel Studios
- Jacob Batalon- Ned, Peter Parker’s best friend
- Laura Harrier- Liz
- Michael Keaton- Vulture, the villain
- Tom Holland- Spider-Man
- Robert Downey Jr.- Tony Stark aka Iron Man
- Marisa Tomei- Aunt May
- Zendaya- Michelle
- Tony Revolori – Flash
- Jon Watts – Director
The interview was very energetic with the cast, producers, and director. You can see and feel the chemistry with everyone but I still love how Tom and Jacob play off one another. I talked about that on our Marvel Set Visit. This time it was a trio when you add RDJ in the mix.
Some of my favorite lines from the interview:
Holland said he was asked, “Can you just backflip off that wall and land on the beam.”
“I read a comic yesterday that’s based off of my face. I mean, what the hell? Nothing has sunk in. This really feels like I’m about to wake up and be very disappointed. But I’m very happy here and I can’t wait for you to see the movie.
Love that Zendaya thinks, It’s ok to be weird- Weird is ok!
Feige said, “You gotta see the movie and love it.” I saw it and I honestly loved it. I think that’s what’s exciting.
In case you’re not sure what Spider-Man is about
A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
Spider-Man Homecoming will be in theaters on July 7, 2017!

I was invited on an all-expense paid media trip in honor of Spider-Man Homecoming from Marvel and Sony. All opinions are my own.

That must have been so amazing. I’m so glad that Spider-Man is finally back in the Marvel fold – or at least that Marvel and Sony are sharing the rights.

That Spiderman movie has such an amazing cast I did not know Michael Keaton plays the villain. I have to see it with my son who loves action movies and Marvel heroes.

Wow, the food alone looked like a good reason to visit that area for the junket. It looked like it was even more fun with other blogger friends!

I think this movie is going to be great! I mean, who doesn’t love Spiderman movies? But what interests me is seeing Robert Downey Jr. and Marisa Tomei together in a movie again. I loved them in that movie ‘Only You” in 1994. That was 2 years before Tom Holland was born!
