Eating Healthy Isn’t As Hard As You Think

October 28, 2016 Rachel Ferrucci Leave a Comment

I think there’s a common misconception online that eating healthy and living well are difficult things to do. But are they really? I’m not so sure because my husband and I have been changing our lifestyle for the better for a while now and it hasn’t been the massive challenge that I expected. In fact, I think it’s rather easy to change your lifestyle and start eating healthily once you get started. What are the benefits of doing this?

Learn What Food Should Taste Like

For me, this is the biggest benefit you can get from eating a healthier diet. You’ll recognise what food actually tastes like again. These days, there is so much sugar packed into every food you can buy that it completely obliterates your tastes buds. You may not think you’re eating a lot of sugar but you’d be surprised how much it’s used in things that you buy. An example would be ready meals. If you’re purchasing meals that you heat up in the microwave for a quick dinner, you can bet they are packed with sugar. Package meals are the same deal too. The thing, is that there are natural sugars and sweeteners in every type of food.

Perhaps you have a friend who really loves their veg. It might be that vegetables literally taste better to them. Particularly, if they have a low sugar diet. Once you stop eating foods caked in sugar, you’ll appreciate the natural sweet taste. You won’t even be able to eat fast food anymore because the massive amounts of sugar present will become startlingly apparent.

Increase Your Lifespan

If you live a healthy lifestyle and eat good food, your lifespan will increase. This has been proved by countless research studies that have investigated the effect of eating junk food. You might remember the film from a few years ago Supersize Me. Although it is an exaggeration of the way most of us live life, it brought home some hard truths. Junk food as a fast food diet is one of the worst things that you can do to your body. Organic foods are far better for you and will keep you in good health for years. You might wonder whether the damage has already been done and if it’s too late to change the path. But actually, research demonstrates this isn’t the case at all. In fact, if you start eating healthy now you can still improve your quality of life in later years.

Feel Better, Feel Fitter

Eating a healthy diet will even make you feel better physically and mentally. Junk food and food high in sugar has an incredible effect on your physical and mental health. It won’t just change your body, it will alter your mind. If you eat a food high in sugar and fat you are going to be more prone to mood swings and even higher levels of depression. It may sound incredible but it’s absolutely true. A poor diet will affect more than just your body.

So, how can you start moving towards the right path, right now.

Make More Of Food

I think one of the biggest issues for most people is that they associate a low fat diet with a boring food plan. Actually, this doesn’t have to be the case at all. In fact, there are plenty of ways that you can make a diet that’s good for you fun too. Let’s think about the paleo diet as an example here. The paleo diet is recognized as one of the diets that is best for your body. It keeps you fit, lean and mean. One of the key foods in the paleo diet is sweet potatoes. But if you thought you just had to eat them plain, you were wrong. In fact, you can find paleo recipes here that add a lot more than healthy living to your diet. You can learn to have fun with food again by making some truly delicious recipes.

This isn’t the only way you can make more from food either. I certainly suggest that you purchase a healthy eating recipe book. By doing this, you can explore different recipes for yourself that you find interesting or exciting. I’m sure you’ll be able to create some wonderful sumptuous meals for you and your family.

You might even want to check out a few healthy eating blogs online. I’ve found plenty of fun and exciting recipes online. They aren’t all winners and some are definitely flawed. But with a little experimenting, you can make something brand new that you enjoy.

Perhaps you should also consider upgrading your kitchen. I’m not talking about a full renovation but rather just buying a few new cooking accessories. One of the reasons people eat out all the time is because they don’t have the tools they need to make a delicious meal in the kitchen. If you invest a little more time and money into your kitchen, you may find yourself getting more excited about what you can cook.

Alter Your Meals

You can also consider altering the meals that you love to make them healthier and better for you. One example of this would be a delicious meaty stir fry. The stir fry itself isn’t bad for you. It’s the grease that builds up in the pan that makes it unhealthy. You can drain the fatty oil and have a yummy food that still tastes great but is far better for you. To do this, cook the meat first, then drain the pan and add everything else.

Similarly, you can change up your meals, switching healthier alternatives for some of the ingredients. For instance, you can eat rice instead of pasta. Pasta is higher in carbs than rice and you will find that rice is far better for you. It’s part of the asian continent diet, recognized as one of the healthiest regional diets in the world.

You may also want to switch up your typical meats for fish. If you don’t hate the taste of fish, you might be pleased to hear that it’s good for you. Natural fish oils are particularly good for your body and many people get the oils even if they don’t like the full meals.

You might have heard the buzz around a gluten free diet. Is going gluten free really better for you? The jury is out on whether removing gluten from your diet has any real health benefit at all. However, it certainly makes it easy to get some foods that are bad for you like cake out of your diet. For this reason, it might be worth jumping on the gluten free bandwagon. A lot of major brands and even restaurants are embracing the idea now. It’s getting easier than ever to eat completely gluten free, all the time.

Cutting Things Out Your Diet

One of the mistakes people make when they try and get healthy is that they cut certain things from their diet. This might be fat, protein, meat, carbs, salt or even sugar. The issue here is that we need all these things in our diet to stay healthy. Our body needs lots of different things. Dairy keeps the bones strong, salt keeps the joints loose. Protein keeps are muscle strong and we do need some body fat. As such, you shouldn’t be cutting any one thing out of your diet. Instead, you should just consume some things in smaller quantities. Your issue isn’t that you are eating fatty foods, it’s that you’re eating too much of it. A steak every now and then isn’t going to kill you. In fact, it could be rather good for you.

Similarly, you shouldn’t be cutting meals out of your diet. There is a worrying trend right now of liquid diets. Are liquid diets bad for you? Again the jury is out, but I have to wonder how they could be good. After all, you’ll be missing out a lot of the major ingredients of a healthy meal. Cutting out meals is also a bad idea because it affects how the body functions. For instance, breakfast is important for jump starting your metabolism. If you are trying to lose weight this is going to be incredibly important. Therefore, cutting out meals could actually hinder your chances of eating healthily.

The Verdict?

So is healthy living as hard as people think? I don’t believe so and if you start small, you’ll soon find yourself getting the hang of it. It’s true what they say you know. Unhealthy foods only taste good because they are bad for you. It’s a subconscious desire of wanting to be bad, as silly as that sounds. If you shake it, you’ll soon find that healthy living can be delicious too. In fact, some of the diets you find online taste far better than your typical junk food rubbish. If you don’t believe this, head to a five star restaurant and ask for the healthiest meal on the menu. Then prepare your taste buds for transportation to food heaven. You won’t believe how fantastic healthy living can actually be until you try this.

Why did no one warn us that menopause would turn our bodies into a crime scene… Dryness. Pain. Sneezing roulette. UTIs showing up uninvited. And doctors smiling politely and saying, “That’s just aging.” Cool. Love that for us.

Say Hello to Silky Peach Cream 🍑 A bioidentical estriol cream that works locally to rebuild thinning tissue, restore moisture, and bring back comfort where it actually matters. Not a Band-Aid. Not a $350 prescription. Not a lube that disappears by lunchtime.

Estriol is the gentlest form of estrogen our bodies naturally make, and Silky Peach Cream puts it back exactly where menopause took it away. Over time, tissue rebuilds, moisture returns, and suddenly intimacy doesn’t feel like sandpaper and regret.

Two pumps nightly. Then maintenance. Because it took years to get this dry… it’s okay if it takes a little time to feel normal again.

I’m done whispering about menopause. I got my life back. And my peach is happy again!

I didn’t expect this to be the hardest part of getting older.

If sex hurts. If you avoid intimacy. If you dread wiping.

It’s not “just dryness.” It’s estrogen loss. And yes, it’s fixable.

Menopause doesn’t ease in quietly. It shows up hot, uncomfortable, and disruptive. And for way too long, women are told to whisper about it or accept it as “just aging.” I’m done with that.

Silky Peach Cream helped restore moisture, rebuild thinning tissue, and bring back comfort where menopause took it away. Not a quick fix. Not a Band-Aid. Just real, gradual relief that made me feel like myself again.

Two pumps. Some patience. And a lot less suffering.

Stop whispering about menopause. You deserve relief. You deserve joy. Your peach deserves to be happy again.

Get the details and try it for yourself at the link in my bio.

When I found out I needed surgery, my 1st thought wasn’t the procedure. It was the fear of being handed opioids again with no real choice. After my last surgery, opioids were the only option I had, my insurance didn’t cover the non-opioid alternatives I specifically asked for. That showed me how quickly exposure can happen. Many people don’t realize that about 1 in 10 patients who receive opioids after surgery will struggle with long-term use. That’s nearly 4 million people per year. It’s no secret that opioids can lead to addiction, & we should be much louder about the fact that there are non opioid options that can be used during surgery to manage pain afterwards.
Medicare already recognizes this & separately reimburses for FDA-approved non-opioid pain treatments, proving these options are real & available. Yet insurance barriers often make them difficult or impossible to access. Instead of making decisions about my recovery with my doctor, insurance policy made them for me. As I prepare for my next surgery, I want access to every option that reduces my exposure. I know how easily things can escalate. I’ve seen opioid use continue far longer than intended. It can tear apart families before anyone realizes what’s happening. What starts as short-term pain management after surgery becomes something no one ever expected, simply because safer options were never offered. It’s frustrating that some major insurers still haven’t expanded coverage the way Medicare has. #UnitedHealthcare is one of the companies whose restrictions make it harder to access FDA-approved non-opioid surgical pain options. Because of their size, these decisions affect millions. Surgery shouldn’t be a gateway to opioid addiction. Medicare covers these options. UnitedHealthcare & others need to do the same so patients aren’t pushed toward opioids by outdated policies. Patients & families deserve better.
