When it comes to watching the Superbowl, there’s three things that a must; A large TV, great food, and friends! This year our team didn’t make it but as true football fans, we love to watch the game and of course the commercials! It seems like I always miss a great play or a great commercial because I’m busy getting the food ready! This year I decided I will not be in the kitchen and everything will be ready when friends arrive. I partnered with North Country Smokehouse and was sent Organic Kielbasa and Applewood Smoked Bacon and thought this would be a perfect slow cooker addition to the food!
My menu will consist of Antipasto skewers, veggie and dip, a cheese and olive board, olive tapenade, kielbasa and bacon, and a jambalaya (recipe coming).
This was the first time I was making the kielbasa and bacon so I made one for the family to try beforehand. My husband is a big fan of kielbasa and sauerkraut, and my grandson is a bacon lover. When I cooked the bacon, of course he had to try a piece, and he loved it so much, I had to hold him off from eating it all! The hand-crafted bacon has a meaty flavor and a natural wood smoked scent that signals its supreme quality. The natural old fashioned kielbasa is made with natural casings and the heady aroma of marjoram and onion.
Let me be clear that I’m very picky with what I use when it comes to sausages and bacons. I have always stuck with the brands I was raised on. North Country Smokehouse is located in New Hampshire, which I love that it’s near me (well, in New England). It started 100 years ago and is now in the third generation of quality and authentic flavor. Growing up Italian, I know the importance of artisanal cooking traditions passed down through generations!
The recipe I decided on was so easy, it will now be a staple in our house!
