A year ago we decided to add a rottweiler puppy to our family. We had been dogless for a few years and this was a big step for us, we knew we would be giving up our freedom of being able to come and go now that the kids are grown. It had been 17 years since we had a puppy in the house and although we planned on spending lots of time training, there was a lot we forgot about…… like the mess, the hair, and the little bits of whatever it was she found to chew up into a thousand little pieces. I have hardwood through most of the house but the living room has our original carpet from forever ago. We vacuum probably everyday but I swear my vacuum just sounds like it’s working. I was given the opportunity to test out the Dyson DC65.
I thought this is the perfect time for a challenge: Dyson DC65 vs Rottweiler!
The day my Dyson DC65 came, my dog was in one of her attempts to catch the cat moods. You can walk from my kitchen into the dining room into the living room and back into the kitchen, so it’s a big circle. Imagine the cat running, the dog chasing the cat, me chasing the dog and yelling for her to stop. Hair and fur flying, sliding across floors, things getting knocked over, counters being hurdled, and chairs being tipped. When the chaos finally settles, you survey the damage. One broken crystal lamp with itty bitty pieces of glass, muffins crumbs from the plate being pushed off the counter, and the regular hair that found it’s way to the corners and along the baseboard.
This time I was ready! Cats- outside! Dog- in her crate! I leave the mess and open my beautiful new Dyson. It just happens to be in my favorite color, purple….. it was made for me! It took me about five minutes to put the Dyson together and I was ready to go or rather clean. After picking up the big pieces of glass and moving the furniture, I put the Dyson to the test. I started in the living room and the dust and dirt that it was pulling from my rug was incredible and disgusting. How could all that actually be in there when it was just vacuumed yesterday. People do not wear shoes in my house so how all this was in my rug was puzzling. The Dyson was filled in a matter of minutes, maybe this is why it’s called Dyson Animal Bagless Upright Vacuum. I dumped the dirt out which took about 30 seconds and was ready to finish the carpet. When I finished the carpet I was able to keep going right into the dining room because the Dyson allows you to go from carpet to floor without stopping. You click one button and you now have a powerful floor vacuum. The ball swivels so you can turn it very easy and it doesn’t leave anything against the baseboards or in the corners because of it’s sucking power. Maybe by now I’m sounding like a commercial but I have to say, I love my Dyson. I could probably talk about everything it can do for an hour. Like….
- I did my stairs and didn’t have to carry the vacuum down every couple of stairs. The hose was long enough to get me through to the first landing
- The Tangle-Free Turbine Attachment made it easy to clean my couches

Here are a few more aspects that may interest you:
