We can all name a teacher who had an effect on our lives. We can think of look back and remember how much that teacher cared and instilled something to put us on our road to success. I remember Mr. Mangini, my science and math teacher, he went above and beyond teaching me science and math. I was in his class in my rebellious years and instead of concentrating on the “good” kids and leaving me to rot, he took me aside and asked tough questions, gave me a lecture, and had me stay after school to help him on projects. He constantly reminded me that I was always an A student and he helped to get me back on track and my head back in the game. Often throughout high school and beyond, I thought about him and would strive to do better. Mr Mangini will always be a teacher I think of during Teacher Appreciation Week! (May 2-6)
When it was time for my kids to go to school, I hoped they too would have teachers who would help to mold them and put them on the road to success. There were many teachers that they loved and still talk about to this day. We always included their teachers on our lists for holidays but the girls also thought about them at other times. Sometimes we would create crafts and the girls would want to make a special gift for their teacher. They would get so excited to wrap it up and bring it to school. Teacher Appreciation Week gives children the chance to say thank you to their teacher. It also teaches children to be thankful to have an amazing person in their life who is not a family member and looking out for them.
