I’ve kept house now for over 25 years. Seventeen years ago was the last time I bought the “good stuff” for the kitchen. I’ve replaced knives and some pans but I would not be comfortable letting Sandra Lee into my kitchen to cook.
My knife, Yes ONE knife that I use for cooking is about 15 years old, it’s the last survivor of a cheap steak knife set. It’s serrated, it’s small, it sucks. I’ve looked at knives at stores and I always found they were crazy expensive and I’d rather buy things I need more, like shoes. I recently went to an event by Sears and we got to meet Sandra Lee, who is awesome but that’s another post, and they sent us home with a few items. I saw the knives and knew right away those babies were coming with me. I received a Two-Piece Santoku Knife Set and a 8″ Chef’s Knife which I think is actually a kids knife but it’s perfect for me.
I love to cook and could really get into it but I hate everything I’m using to do it. I don’t want to spend a boat load of money on pots, pans, accessories, and utensils because there are so many other things we need and I feel I can get by with what I have. Since my utensils and pans suck, I tend to not cook as much as I’d like to or should. When I do, it’s me and my knife. I cook a lot of chicken and I’m a freak when I clean it. I only buy boneless breast and I clean every single thing off the chicken, I usually wind up throwing away 1/3 of it. I blame my knife because the knife doesn’t let me make precise cuts.
Now for the test- I checked the price of the items I received and I thought they were so cheap they weren’t going to work. If it did work, it’ll dull out in a month! I opened the knife and tested it on cleaning the chicken. I was so amazed how it sliced through the chicken like butter. When I was done, there was very little cut off. I’m now loving the knife. I’ve since showed it to my friends and family because I’m very proud of my knife. You may not think this is a big deal but imagine having one knife in your kitchen that you use from slicing a tomato to cutting beef and chicken.
Let’s go back to price. For the first time in over 15 years I went and bought more knives. The handle itself is very comfortable to hold, easy to wash, and I love the red. If you know colors, red means power and I have regained some of my power in the kitchen! You can find Sandra Lee products at Sears and Kmart. The knives shown above have a retail value of $7.99 and $15.29.
Thanks Sandra Lee for making a quality knife with a cheaper price tag.

I know what you mean about reclaiming your kitchen and the power of a good knife. I do enjoy my cooking, but I am getting bored and tired of the same ol’ same ol’, I’d give anything to learn how to revive the love I have for preparing a delicious meal for my family. Glad you found an affordable knife that works, less waste!!!
