Convenient Healthcare- There is an App For That

October 8, 2016 Rachel Ferrucci 15 Comments

We partnered with Convenient Care Now by Hackensack University Health Network and Mom Trends to check out this service and to bring you my honest thoughts and opinions

New Jersey residents now have the convenience of healthcare via an app. You can now connect with a doctor in minutes on your computer or mobile device. Convenient Care Now by Hackensack University Health Network brings the quality care and expertise of Hackensack University Medical Center without having to travel to an office. convenient-care-now

I agreed to use the app and demo the use of the newest technology in the medical field. I happened to wake with a scratchy throat and allergies which always go into a full blown sinus infection. The entire visit took about 10 mins, which included sign-up and reading my diagnosis after my visit.

If you’re skeptical about seeing a doctor via your computer or phone, read how my visit went and to ease your mind, I’m going to share a code with you to try your first visit for Convenient Care Now for FREE!

We Get It- You’re Busy! Save Time Now

Board-certified, licensed doctors, dietitians and psychologists are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. From the comfort of your home these visits are live via your computer or mobile device. When you are feeling under the weather, the last thing you want to do is get ready, jump in the car, and drive to go wait in a doctor’s office. Not to mention we’re usually so busy that we will put it off until we’re down for the count on the couch. There is now no excuse not to get yourself seen because you can find 10-15 mins out of your busy schedule.  convenient-care-now

The Middle Of The Night “Mommy Calls”

It always seems like kids are the worst at night. Their symptoms intensify and fevers spike. We have all made that call to an answering service and had to sit and wait for the on-call doctor to get back to us. Now you can have a live doctor visit with a pediatrician at any hour. No waiting until the morning to be seen or finding someone to sit with the other kids while you drag your poor baby to an urgent care facility. convenient-care-now

My Visit For Allergies/ Sinuses

As I said in the beginning, I normally would have waited and my cold would have gone into a sinus infection and I would have been down for the count next week. I’m way too busy to go to a walk-in and especially on a Saturday (that’s when I called). By having the convenience of seeing a doctor via computer or mobile device, there is no need for me to wait.

  1. Download the app – I downloaded the app which took 1 minute
  2. Filled out my info – I entered all my personal info/medical history/medications, etc. This took about 5 minutes but it’s a one time thing. convenient-care-now
  3. Picked my doctor- Via a list of doctors, I was showed who was available and how many patients were waiting for each doctor. I chose the first available which happened to be Dr Shori. (30 seconds)
  4. Connected Live – Within 2 minutes Dr Shori came on. He asked me questions from the info I entered previously, asked additional questions, and listened as I explained my symptoms and asked questions. This part was an exact replica of when the doctor enters your exam room. The only difference is that we were talking via video.
  5. Diagnosis – He explained he didn’t want to prescribe antibiotics because I didn’t show symptoms for them but he did give me some OTC meds that I could use to help alleviate the symptoms.
  6. After the visit- Dr Shori advised that in my account would be all the notes from my visit in a private message from him. He also advised if I had any questions or concerns that I should message him back. He also said if things worsened in 2 days to message him so he could see me and take next steps. (I’m sharing my medical notes)

  7. Messages- I checked my messages and sure enough, ALL the info was there! Everything we talked about, everything he advised, and a bit more. convenient-care-now

Why Convenient Care Now is Better

We already know it saves time. We also know that we can see board-certified, licensed doctors, dietitians and psychologists for immediate and live, online visits 24 hours a day. What we don’t normally get is a report after we leave a doctor’s office. I can’t tell you how many times I forgot something the doctor said. I can now go into my notes and see exactly what he recommended. I know he told me 3 things for the OTC meds but yes, I already forgot! convenient-care-now

  1. Lower cost.  In-office visits can cost you on average, $82 for first-time patients according to the Healthcare Blue Book. Convenient Care Now offers a $49 physician visit – a savings of $33.  It’s also a great option for students in college looking for cost-effective healthcare. BUT WAIT- I’m giving you your first visit FREE!
  2. Quick prescriptions. We know when a doctor is going to prescribe a med most of the time. It’s so much easier to have a video visit to get our common primary care prescriptions.

Your Free Visit

This product is only available in New Jersey at the moment. Outside of New Jersey? You might not have the same experience, and the doctor won’t be able to prescribe meds, but I will say- I’m in CT and I was able to get taken care of. If you know someone in Jersey, you probably want to send this to them! USE CODE – CARENOW11 convenient-care-now

Yes! I love this. I have a blog, three kids, two dogs, and a husband. I have no time to go and wait at a doctor’s office.

This is such a great idea. I’d much rather see a doctor from the comfort of my own home that go out and wait in an office. Love it!

This looks like a great option and app. I used a similar service for my last sinus infection and it was so quick and easy.

I think this is beyond convenient its brilliant. I hate having to tote my 7 kids with me to wait in a icky waiting room to be seen for 5 minutes and expose my kids to all the germs. This is a much better option!

My family had bronchitis a few months ago. We were miserable. Even worse was how long the wait was to get an appointment with our doctor. Yikes!

This is really cool. I wish there were places approved for my insurance. All these online Drs are not part of my network so they are a bit pricey.

I think my family is getting all of the illness out of the way early this year. It’s already been a tough cold and flu season. This could come in handy when we need information, but can’t make it to the doctor.

I love online health care apps because they are convenient and they will be able to cater to a lot of people who will be unable to go to the hospital. They also eliminate long queues! This sounds like a reliable app.

Why did no one warn us that menopause would turn our bodies into a crime scene… Dryness. Pain. Sneezing roulette. UTIs showing up uninvited. And doctors smiling politely and saying, “That’s just aging.” Cool. Love that for us.

Say Hello to Silky Peach Cream 🍑 A bioidentical estriol cream that works locally to rebuild thinning tissue, restore moisture, and bring back comfort where it actually matters. Not a Band-Aid. Not a $350 prescription. Not a lube that disappears by lunchtime.

Estriol is the gentlest form of estrogen our bodies naturally make, and Silky Peach Cream puts it back exactly where menopause took it away. Over time, tissue rebuilds, moisture returns, and suddenly intimacy doesn’t feel like sandpaper and regret.

Two pumps nightly. Then maintenance. Because it took years to get this dry… it’s okay if it takes a little time to feel normal again.

I’m done whispering about menopause. I got my life back. And my peach is happy again!

I didn’t expect this to be the hardest part of getting older.

If sex hurts. If you avoid intimacy. If you dread wiping.

It’s not “just dryness.” It’s estrogen loss. And yes, it’s fixable.

Menopause doesn’t ease in quietly. It shows up hot, uncomfortable, and disruptive. And for way too long, women are told to whisper about it or accept it as “just aging.” I’m done with that.

Silky Peach Cream helped restore moisture, rebuild thinning tissue, and bring back comfort where menopause took it away. Not a quick fix. Not a Band-Aid. Just real, gradual relief that made me feel like myself again.

Two pumps. Some patience. And a lot less suffering.

Stop whispering about menopause. You deserve relief. You deserve joy. Your peach deserves to be happy again.

In paid partnership with #NoPainPact and with the support of #VoicesforNonOpioidChoices.

When I found out I needed surgery, my 1st thought wasn’t the procedure. It was the fear of being handed opioids again with no real choice. After my last surgery, opioids were the only option I had, my insurance didn’t cover the non-opioid alternatives I specifically asked for. That showed me how quickly exposure can happen. Many people don’t realize that about 1 in 10 patients who receive opioids after surgery will struggle with long-term use. That’s nearly 4 million people per year. It’s no secret that opioids can lead to addiction, & we should be much louder about the fact that there are non opioid options that can be used during surgery to manage pain afterwards.
Medicare already recognizes this & separately reimburses for FDA-approved non-opioid pain treatments, proving these options are real & available. Yet insurance barriers often make them difficult or impossible to access. Instead of making decisions about my recovery with my doctor, insurance policy made them for me. As I prepare for my next surgery, I want access to every option that reduces my exposure. I know how easily things can escalate. I’ve seen opioid use continue far longer than intended. It can tear apart families before anyone realizes what’s happening. What starts as short-term pain management after surgery becomes something no one ever expected, simply because safer options were never offered. It’s frustrating that some major insurers still haven’t expanded coverage the way Medicare has. #UnitedHealthcare is one of the companies whose restrictions make it harder to access FDA-approved non-opioid surgical pain options. Because of their size, these decisions affect millions. Surgery shouldn’t be a gateway to opioid addiction. Medicare covers these options. UnitedHealthcare & others need to do the same so patients aren’t pushed toward opioids by outdated policies. Patients & families deserve better.
