Our kitchens are a focal point in our home and are usually the most expensive when it comes to updating or redesigning. You can spend tens of thousands of dollars easily but we’re going to give you budget-friendly kitchen redesign ideas!
Paint
A coat of paint will brighten up the room and paint the cabinets. The trick with painting cabinets is the prepping. It takes putting in some elbow grease but will save a lot money. Depending if your cabinets are already painted, you may need to strip them first. If not, you’ll need to sand them a bit- this helps the fresh paint to stick. You should also always seal the paint with a clear to help stop the chipping. Don’t forget to clean everything before painting, you don’t want to paint over old grease or dirt. This is not a day project so plan on a weekend.
Replace Counters
Replacing counters can give the kitchen a fresh look. Laminate counters are inexpensive, durable, and scratch and stain resistant. You can have them cut to size right at Home Depot to have them ready to be installed and they are low maintenance. No resealing is required and they are seamless. They come in rich colors and large scale patterns to choose from.
DIY Back Splash
This is where you can get a little creative. The possibilities are endless. You can choose from tiles, panels, stone, brick, quatrefoil, stainless steel, or many other textures. The colors and designs are endless. Depending what material you’ll be using it may be wise to take a mini class. You’re now tying it all together.
