I Died And Went To Heaven At David Burke Prime Steakhouse

August 27, 2014 Rachel Ferrucci 3 Comments

One of my favorite things to do is to go out to dinner. Not just because I don’t have to cook or clean up but I love trying new foods and I’m always looking for ideas on presentation so when I have my own dinner parties, I can impress people. I soak it in when I hear my guests talking about how something looks or tastes, it puts a smile on my face and it makes it all worth it. If I like to impress my guests, of course I’m looking to be impressed too! I’m very picky so when I say I died and went to heaven at David Burke Prime Steakhouse, you know it had to be amazing!

When it comes to steak, I want it to be a great cut that’s tender with minimum fat (fat grosses me out) and it needs to be cooked medium well. I know … I know the best steak is medium but I don’t like blood. I like a pink NOT red center, so get over it. I also love lobster and you’d be surprised how many times you probably had lobster over cooked. With all that said let’s just get into this spectacular night!

The Restaurant

When you enter David Burke Prime Steakhouse at Foxwoods Resort Casino you can’t help but to look around as you walk into this contemporary steakhouse. The first thing I noticed was the high back booth chairs covered in cowhide. When we sat, I faced the 35-foot tall wine tower escalating up three stories. Ohhhh Mama, I just want to go sit in there for a few hours with a wine key!

All cuts of meat served at the restaurant are hand-picked by Chef Burke and dry-aged in the restaurant’s in-house dry-aging room with walls lined in imported pink Himalayan rock salt, crafted here in the U.S.

The Apps

I can write it and video it but no words can truly describe this A-May-Zing thick slab of hanging bacon drenched and dripping with maple. The Maple Glazed Double Cut Pepper Bacon is served on a mini clothes line, smoked with maple and re-glazed so it’s dripping when it gets to your table. Just before it’s served Rosemary is lit under it and the smoke adds more flavor. Your teeth will stick together just looking at. My husband actually moaned when he tasted it. I almost looked under the table.

The Main Course

My favorites are steak and lobster so when the waiter told me about the surf & turf special, I was all over that! When they served this land and sea masterpiece I couldn’t take my eyes off it and didn’t know where to start. I was speechless (this is a record in its self). The filet mignon was cooked to perfection as the lobster laid against it atop a creamy risotto. I didn’t know if I wanted to eat it or marry it. Yes it was that beautiful! I ordered a steak hat of Horseradish Cream Sauce but truthfully I dipped one piece and didn’t want to miss any of the natural flavor of the steak. It was the best steak I ever had. I can say this because as the queen of picking apart a steak, I didn’t cut one piece off and ate the entire piece.

**CAUTION** Please don’t move on if you’re hungry- May cause mouth salivation

The Dessert

So simple yet so over the top. The David Burke’s Cheesecake Lollipop Tree for Two with bubble gum whipped cream. The cheesecake lollipops in different flavors will have your taste buds dancing with happiness. Forget the saying “With A Cherry On Top” because this tree is topped with cotton candy which is flavored. We had the apple and yes I made room!

The Wine

There is a wine for everyone! How do I know this? Because I was………

35 Foot Wine Tower

The Service

The service was impeccable from the moment we walked in. We were guests at David Burke Prime but we watched all the other tables and saw how the servers really worked together to make sure each person had what they needed. They took the time to talk and make you feel like you were the only people there and with the dining room full you never waited for a refill, to place your order, or for a question.

One Last Cool Fun Fact:

When they bring the check, it’s served with cotton candy! Again so simple but gives it that extra special touch. You’re in luxury but in a relaxed setting. We were even visited by James, the General Manager, as he made his rounds to all the tables.

David Burke Prime Steakhouse is a must go! Totally worth the money! Make it a night to remember and plan to stay at Foxwoods Resort Casino!

Play.  Filet.  Stay.

Why did no one warn us that menopause would turn our bodies into a crime scene… Dryness. Pain. Sneezing roulette. UTIs showing up uninvited. And doctors smiling politely and saying, “That’s just aging.” Cool. Love that for us.

Say Hello to Silky Peach Cream 🍑 A bioidentical estriol cream that works locally to rebuild thinning tissue, restore moisture, and bring back comfort where it actually matters. Not a Band-Aid. Not a $350 prescription. Not a lube that disappears by lunchtime.

Estriol is the gentlest form of estrogen our bodies naturally make, and Silky Peach Cream puts it back exactly where menopause took it away. Over time, tissue rebuilds, moisture returns, and suddenly intimacy doesn’t feel like sandpaper and regret.

Two pumps nightly. Then maintenance. Because it took years to get this dry… it’s okay if it takes a little time to feel normal again.

I’m done whispering about menopause. I got my life back. And my peach is happy again!

I didn’t expect this to be the hardest part of getting older.

If sex hurts. If you avoid intimacy. If you dread wiping.

It’s not “just dryness.” It’s estrogen loss. And yes, it’s fixable.

Menopause doesn’t ease in quietly. It shows up hot, uncomfortable, and disruptive. And for way too long, women are told to whisper about it or accept it as “just aging.” I’m done with that.

Silky Peach Cream helped restore moisture, rebuild thinning tissue, and bring back comfort where menopause took it away. Not a quick fix. Not a Band-Aid. Just real, gradual relief that made me feel like myself again.

Two pumps. Some patience. And a lot less suffering.

Stop whispering about menopause. You deserve relief. You deserve joy. Your peach deserves to be happy again.

Get the details and try it for yourself at the link in my bio.

In paid partnership with #NoPainPact and with the support of #VoicesforNonOpioidChoices.

When I found out I needed surgery, my 1st thought wasn’t the procedure. It was the fear of being handed opioids again with no real choice. After my last surgery, opioids were the only option I had, my insurance didn’t cover the non-opioid alternatives I specifically asked for. That showed me how quickly exposure can happen. Many people don’t realize that about 1 in 10 patients who receive opioids after surgery will struggle with long-term use. That’s nearly 4 million people per year. It’s no secret that opioids can lead to addiction, & we should be much louder about the fact that there are non opioid options that can be used during surgery to manage pain afterwards.
Medicare already recognizes this & separately reimburses for FDA-approved non-opioid pain treatments, proving these options are real & available. Yet insurance barriers often make them difficult or impossible to access. Instead of making decisions about my recovery with my doctor, insurance policy made them for me. As I prepare for my next surgery, I want access to every option that reduces my exposure. I know how easily things can escalate. I’ve seen opioid use continue far longer than intended. It can tear apart families before anyone realizes what’s happening. What starts as short-term pain management after surgery becomes something no one ever expected, simply because safer options were never offered. It’s frustrating that some major insurers still haven’t expanded coverage the way Medicare has. #UnitedHealthcare is one of the companies whose restrictions make it harder to access FDA-approved non-opioid surgical pain options. Because of their size, these decisions affect millions. Surgery shouldn’t be a gateway to opioid addiction. Medicare covers these options. UnitedHealthcare & others need to do the same so patients aren’t pushed toward opioids by outdated policies. Patients & families deserve better.
